AC only works with fan on setting 1, but not on 2-4.

AC only works with fan on first setting. AC turns off when I go to second, third, or fourth setting.

  • rhlustig Aug 04, 2009

Actually, the fan works as it should at all settings. Only problem is the AC turns off as soon as I go to any fan setting above 1.

Hi, my partner has a 2011 barina cdx. We are having issues with the coolant bubbling out. Head pressure reads 240-245 psi across all cylinders. The only thing I noticed is the fan won’t come on unless you...

There are 2-3 sensors that will trigger your electric fan comming on, 1 is usually near thermostats, 1 usually near bottom or on side of radiator, third is on your ac compressor. With car running turn on ac fan should kick on if it does ac sensor is good. Then it will be one of your other 2 sensors

Fuel pump relay diagram 1997 pontiac grand am

From left to right, the first relay should be for the fuel pump.
The second is for the ac compressor clutch, third is for the blower motor, and fourth is the radiator fan. You can unplug the third and see if the blower stops to verify.
I can also get you the wire colors if you need them.

The blower motor resistor is burned out between the third and fourth tap. The resistor is often mounted on the engine side of the firewall inside a box with a single connector going to it.

My AC/Heater fan only works on the third and fourth settings, not on the low settings.

The most likely problem is the blower resistor. Its under the dash on the passenger side near the firewall. The wires to the blower lead to it. Most of the time the resistor burn out. Its an easy fix.

Whine when air conditioner compressor engaged at lower speeds

If it is coming from under the hood(whine)then the ac compressor is either low on oil,or it is about to go out.Sometimes ac compressors will last a good long time, but sometimes they whine right before they lock up.So look for some ac compressor problems.Have a mechanic check it out,but it will most likely need to be changed out(compressor and components).
