1999 Buick Regal LS, 170,000 km (~105,000 miles). Stalls at random city speeds, usually when decelerating or at a stop. It's OK on the highway. I don't think it's the ignition because it usually takes a while for it to start again; anywhere from 1 to 15 minutes. Any ideas?

Check the crankshaft position sensor.It is located forward of the harmonic balancer.Quite often the bracket that holds it gets broke or loosens up allowing sensor to rub on balancer.

it sounds like you have to much trany fluid in the trany.check the fluid level .if fluid is to much it bubbles at high speeds and if to low it can slip

Crank shaft sensor or air mass meter, is this a v6? I had the 2,6 a4 same fault same miles funny enough. changed the air mass meter is was ok after that. thing is they have so many sensors, you need to get it on a diagnostic machine to be sure.
