Is the seat programmed through the correct radio? It seems like the car came through with a programmable seat, as the seat moves all the way back, once I unlock the door with the key fob. Any assistance would be appreciated. It's extremely inconvenient to drive the car short distances, as the seat and mirrors have to be reset every time

I had the same problem and had to kinda figure it out on my own. I have a 98 grand cherokee and I think they should be the same. Inside the drivers door panel there are 3 buttons... a number 1 and number 2 and a SET button. Hold down the set button for a couple seconds then release. Then adjust your settings on your seat and mirrors to what you want...Then press # 1. If you have another person that will be driving the car do the same and press number 2...
The thing is...........There are 2 key chain things issued with each car...One will be the number 1 driver, the other one is the number 2 driver...So...I would program the number 1 driver first and see which key chain thing works...then you will know the other one will be for the number 2 driver.
Hope that made sense...It is a great feature once you finally figure it out. Sheri
SOURCE: Car will not unlock.
To get inside the car .... Use the key in the lock cylinder, unlock the drivers door to get inside. You shouldn't have to reprogram the fob unless it or the keyless module was changed. There may be a blown fuse that supplies the keyless control module (check the owners manual for location). or wires that lead into the Drivers door may be damaged ... The keyless module is located inside the drivers door at the bottom behind the door panel ... do the unlock/lock and trunk release switches on the inside of the drivers door operate the locks and or trunk release? If so it is not the fuse ... and not the wires to it ... And it could be your BCM body control module, located in the dash board to right of your gas petal. Because the number entry keypad (code for that is on the inside of the right passenger trunk bracket arm) also doesn't work I assume it's not the key fobs themselves. Your 98 manual is correct for your car.

Hello....have it re-flashed with the updated software at a dealer....you might try
removing the seat ckt breaker located in the left IP fuse block for a few
seconds,or just unhook the battery for a few minutes to see if it resets
itself...sometimes that will work.
