If the tranny housing is aluminum and the locating pins are steel they will corrode creating a bond.
It will come apart providing all bolts are removed and not easily!
When replacing tranny put antiseize on all aluminum and steel contact points to prevent future corrosion.
I hope this helps.

Ok, a P303 means.... Random misfire detected, cylinder #3. As for the transmission problem, I know for a fact that if the PCM feels the engine working too hard, it will deny you overdrive. My recommendation? Change the plugs and wires. BE CAREFUL with the wires, though. If it's a 5.2 or 5.9, the pattern of how the wires are laid out is VERY important. Not just that they're in order, but how they physically set in the compartment. There was a service recall from Chrysler on this, so it should have been taken care of. If so, just replace the wires exactly how they came off. If it's a 4.7, I don't think the layout was such a problem, but on the old Mopar engines, failure to follow the guidelines could result in not just pre-ignition (ping), but detonation (blowing a hole in your piston.) Once you've done all this, completely disconnect the battery (both cables OFF), touch and hold the cables together for at least 10 seconds (MAKE SURE THE CABLES ARE BOTH OFF THE BATTERY!!!!!) to "kill" the ECM's memory, reconnect the battery, reset your clock and radio then give her a drive. Also, get the good wires. The cheap ones are just that - cheap. You'll be replacing them again in about a month. As for the plugs, Champion is OEM, so don't let the register jockey talk you into plugs that cost $5 a piece. Look at the emission decal under the hood - they even put the Champion plug part numbers on there, for us! Too easy :).

Hope this helps!

How the trans& transfercase bolt to frame

Are you wanting to remove the transmission and transfer case? If so, I advise that you have a good place to work and preferably a transmission jack. While fairly familiar with them, I haven't removed a transmission from a 4-wheel drive Dodge Dakota, but know they're considered to be one of the more difficult ones to do. Have you done this sort of thing before? That said, I can give you instructions. The transmission doesn't actually bolt to the frame. It bolts to the engine bell-housing and there'll be a rubber mount at the rear which probably fastens it to the cross-member with 2 bolts. There are several small things which have to be disconnected/removed, like wiring, the speedometer cable, both drive-shafts, etc. Let me know if you want to remove the transfer case and transmission or just the transfer case.

Cannot remove starter from 1995 dodge dakota 5.2 all bolts off, will not disengage from transmission.?

Some of these also have a metal bracket at the back of the starter, if not you need a soft faced hammer and give it a solid whack near the back of the starter to loosen it from the bellhousing.

Yes you will have to push/pry the a-frame down some. How do you have the vehicle supported? Must be under the frame to let the a-frame come down. Hope this helps. TJ
