My gran vitara has trouble starting in the morning, when it has been sat all night, then the rest of the day it is fine, does it need clean filters??or is the battery wearing out?or any other ideas you can give me..

If you have the spider fuel system, it is noted for problems. Use a fuel pressure gage, 60--66 psi, to get it to start.
Did you check for spark at the plugs? Any applicable trouble codes?
There have been service bulletins about cold start up problems, in the morning, after it starts it usually does fine the rest of the day, poppets need cleaning.

get ignition coil checked. If it is EFI DO NOT press on Accelerator when starting it.
Could have a leak in fuel and it evaporates over night
if carby fuel may be leaking out over night as vapour. In mornng you are fuel pump refilling fuel into carby until it starts again.

Chech the air flow sensor in the intake usually just after the air cleaner box-very carefully clean it.Cheers Denny

I would take it to a shop and have the fuel pressure checked, sounds like it is bleeding off at night
causing temporary starvation when first started.

there is a sensor in the cooling system for the glow plugs if it reads it is 80f it will not light the plugs ,.check to see if you get power to the glow plugs.if not go to the sensor or the computer.

yes this is very likely the engine is pressurized the radiator causing this trouble blown head gasket

have fuel pressure check after long soak.

a toggle switch will work as long as you put the right fuse in it..Good Luck

you have water in the fuel line

You say that "it only has this starting issue in the morning after the car has sat all night".

So this means that during the day, if your running errands, it starts ok when you come out of the store etc, right??

PS do not buy an alternator yet..
