SOURCE: 2003 santa fe

It needs a new pruge valve. The purge valve is sticking open allowing fuel vapors into the intake manifold causing a rich hard start condition.

SOURCE: transmission filter on 2003 hyundia santa fe

In 2002 they discontinued the external trans filter. So your vehicle could have the external filter. If you look next to the trans dipstick tube, on top of the trans case you will see the filter or you will see just a spot where the filter use to go before they eliminated it. Yes, the filter does llok like a regular engine oil filter. If the trans does not have the external filter ontop then there is no service to the filter to be done, the only recommendation is to bring vehicle into a shop to have the fluid flushed. By the way, make SURE you use the correct Hyundai SP-III trans fluid (not dexron/mercon). This fluid is specific to the Hyundai and can not be purchased from auto parts stores, only the dealership. Failure to use SP-III will cause premature wear to the internal bands and clutches.

Yes. Your Local Auto Parts Store should Carry these as Direct Replacements. If Not, Sears Carries them.

SOURCE: How do I replace the tail light assembly on a 2003

You'llhave to raise the rear compartment door fully. Next locat the tailight you wish to replace or same if you are replacing one of the tailigt bulbs. This would include the stop bulb or turn signals etc.
Next there is a black plastice side panel located between the lamp assembly (the entire plastic housing) and the inner portion of the rear compartment door. There you'll see two phillips head screws which you must remove. This releases the entire assembly.
You then next gently give it a small tug toward the left (if a left side assembly) or to the right if other wise. What happens there is that there is a stud that's held pretty snuggly by a modled ring in the body assembly. Don't twist the lamp assembly up or down unless you want to break this off but give it a slight pull outward. Then you're done. The entire assembly will be released and you'll be home free for changing any of the bulbs or even replacing the entire assembly. W/o breaking it of course.

License plate lights not working wiring

Are you measuring 4 volts with the ground on your tester attached to what? The door? The vehicle body?Check the ground on the door/wiring also and the follow the positive wiring back, if you still have to, until you get proper voltage.
OR,grab some power from a tail light and feed the licence plates lights with that,if your ground is good on the door.

My 2003 Santa Fe will not stay in 5th gear! I have a new clutch!!! What's up??

This is not a clutch problem this is a worn part in the transmission causing this, have the transmission removed and torn down and inspected to see what is worn out and affecting the 5th gear.

Auto has 23K and cruse stopped working. checked

I had the same problem with my 2003 santa fe. Do you have any brake lights out in back? Weird as it is, as soon as I fixed a burned out brake bulb, my cruise worked again. The only relation I can think of is that tapping the breaks causes cruise to turn off - so maybe a broken brake/tail light passes a singal to cruise control from some reason???

Dashboard Lights, 2003 Hyundai Sante Fe, NOT WORKING

Had same problem. 2002 Santa Fe. It is the fuse that says Tail Light (rt). They are connected, as well as with the visor light. My visor broke a while back, so I took it out, leaving the wires to dangle. Apparently, the wires were touching up top and shorting out. I took out the connector up there and now no problems.
