To reset (calibrate) the system: The tire inflation
monitor system can be reset two ways. With the
ignition position at ON, pull the interior lamps
control to the ON and OFF settings three times.
It can also be reset through the radio using the
following steps:
1. Turn the ignition to ACC or ON and turn the
radio off.
2. Press and hold the TUNE DISP button on the radio for
at least five seconds until SETTINGS is displayed.
3. Press the SEEK PTYPE up or down arrow to scroll
through the main menu.
4. Scroll until TIRE MON appears on the display.
5. Press the 1 PREV or 2 NEXT button to enter the
submenu. RESET will be displayed.
6. Press the TUNE DISP button to reset. A chime will
be heard to verify the new setting and DONE will be
displayed for one second.
7. Once the monitor has been reset, scroll until EXIT
appears on the display.
8. Press the DISP button to exit programming. A chime
will be heard to verify exit.
The system completes the calibration process
during driving.
The system normally takes 15 to 20 minutes of driving
in each of three speed ranges to “learn” tire pressures.
The speed ranges are 15 to 40 mph (25 to 65 km/h),
40 to 65 mph (65 to 105 km/h) and above 65 mph
(105 km/h). When learning is complete, the system
will alert you after two to eight minutes if a tire is 12 psi
(83 kPa) different from the other three tires. Detection
thresholds may be higher and detection times may be
longer on rough roads, curves and at high speeds. The
system is not capable of detection at speeds greater than
70 mph (110 km/h).

SOURCE: Tire pressure light is on

You cannot reset them,Make sure that you check the pressures in the tires. The Infiniti Tire Pressure Monitoring System is designed to trip the warning light anytime the pressure in any of the tires drops below 29 psi. At 29 psi it really won't look like the tires are low. You could have one tire at 29 or 28 causing the light to stay on all the time. Check your pressures, set at 34 or 35 to be safe, or whatever pressure the tire is recommended to be. Not all infiniti vehicles with TPMS have the display that shows the pressure in each tire. If the pressures are above 29 psi, Then there could be an issue with one or more of the sensors. If you have the tires replaced you will have to have the sensors relearned at the dealer. Tire rotations do not require the same.

SOURCE: How do I reset my low tire pressure warning light

There are two ways to reset the indicator light - the first is to hold down the button (hidden under the dashboard next to the steering column) until the light goes out. That's a reset.
There's also a reactivation, you hold the button until the light flashes three times and then release, that's for use after a wheel is changed, etc. Make sure they have done the reactivation, not just the reset.
If that doesn't work, have them check the technical service bulletins.

Everyone gets confused on this. I see it all the time. Good luck and thank you for using Fixya

The Highlander uses an Indirect Tire Pressure Monitoring System versus Direct type.

There is NO transponder in the air valve. The H/L uses a plain tire old valve. Thus, there is no PSI reading done by this Indirect Type System.
It uses the ABS speed sensors to calculate differences of tire rotational speed among the Four rolling tires(the Spare IS NOT included).
When the spare tire is put on, say when yu get a flat tire, the TPMS button must be pressed. (Recalibrated)

Direct Type TPMS costs more for Toyota and only puts it on select models. i.e. the Land Cruiser...
But for Toyota, the Indirect System meets DOT's TPMS mandated minimum Requirements for 2007 vehicles.

The Direct type system uses a transponder/PSI reader type Air Valve on each tire(including the Spare). Each of the 5 tires send a reading of the PSI to the reciever in the Vehicles TPMS ECU.
It has a small battery and is self powered. Battery must be replaced when yu replace your tires. It must be carefully mounted. Each tire has it's owner frequency channel and ID. for it to be recognized by the ECU.
This system is more precise. But has it's own set problems as a result.

It is the original design TPMS going back to the 1980's introduced with the Corvette and the Runflat Tire option.

Tyre pressure warning light showing when pressures are correct

Hi, the tire pressure monitor detects any changes in the tire inflation pressure. Therefore, it must initialize and store it in its memory if the tires or wheels have been replaced, re-inflated or the tires have been rotated. You can re-initialize the system by following these steps:

1. Check and make sure that your tires are inflated to the correct pressure

2. Turn the ignition switch to the ON position. If the low tire pressure warning light comes on, push and hold the tire pressure warning reset switch (in the glove box) until the warning light turns off and then release the switch.

3. Now press and hold the tire pressure warning reset switch until the low tire pressure warning light blinks three times.

4. Initialization is *not* completed until driving at the vehicle speed of 19 mph or over for more than one hour. the tire pressure monitoring starts when initialization is completed.

Low tire pressure light comes on once temperature outside dropped. Had checked..tire pressure fine. How do I reset to make indicator light go away?

What was the pressure.? the tire pressure specification should be on the drivers door jamb. It needs to be set cold. The light will go off when each tire signals that it has the proper pressure.

I have TPMS on 2009 Nissan Maxima. Can't find where I can check my tire pressure through the TPMS. Manual says I can but I can't find where to. PLEASE HELP!!!

Check the tire pressure at the valve mounted to the wheel. There is a warning light on the instrument cluster to warn of low tire pressure. On a 2009 Maxima, if your warning light comes on check and adjust, if needed, the tire pressures at all 4 wheels. If the pressures were low the light will go out after a short distance. If the light fails to go out take the Maxima to your local Nissan dealer.

Changed right front tire now reads zero on dash light is on

Your tire pressure monitor needs to be reset whenever you change or rotate your tires...

1. check and make sure that your tires are inflated to the correct pressure

2. turn the ignition switch to the ON position. If the low tire pressure warning light comes on, push and hold the tire pressure warning reset switch (think the switch is in the glovebox, but not sure) until the warning light turns off and then release the switch.

3. now press and hold the tire pressure warning reset switch until the low tire pressure warning light blinks three times.

4. initialization is *not* completed until driving at the vehicle speed of 19 mph or over for more than one hour. the tire pressure monitoring starts when initialization is completed.

Is tpms sensor needed when replacing tires?

Without the sensors, the lights will continue to warn you your pressure is low. No harm will come from this to your vehicle. It is a safety system to warn you about the tire pressure so you will take immediate action. The manufacturer is ramping up to meet requirements for future safety regulations.

2007 honda odyssey warning light

That isn't the light for low tire pressure. Low tire pressure will have what looks like a tire- flat. It is your VSA someone probably hit the button and accidentally. look to the left of your steering wheel there is a button that says VSA push it and see if it turns it off. I notice that this post is pretty old, so you may already have gotten the answer from your dealer, but I'm posting in case someone has the same problem later on.
