1999 Saturn Sl electrical problem with driver's side window.

A couple of years ago it began going down spontaneously and the button on the center console didn't work to raise it. After much trial and error I discovered that opening and closing the trunk "reset" it. Just recently I discovered that the driver's side door lock is subject to the same problem. It doesn't work unless I open and close the trunk. What is going on here? My mechanic (who admittedly isn't a expert on electrical problems) thinks I'm insane. I think the car is possessed.

There is probably an electrical short in the circuits for the central locking system. Take the vehicle to a good specialist auto electrician. They will be able to trace the fault more accurately.

SOURCE: 2002 BMW 325 - key locked in trunk

There are several suggestions out there on how to retrieve BMW keys from the trunk. Many of the ways I tried failed, and it takes 2 to 3 days to get a new key made up. In the coupe there is the center piece in the back seat that folds down. Then on the back wall there is material that will fold down that is held up with Velcro. Behind that you will find a rubber insulation that is mostly cut and looks like a door, but not all the way. Carefully cut the rubber to remove the piece. Now you will find a metal wall, but there is a large piece that is tack welded on. I got turned around and kicked it with the bottom of my foot and got 3 sides loose. Then a softball bat knocked the final side loose. Pull that out and trash it, the final barrier is the insulation that is held in place with plastic clips that can just be pushed down. After that you can a pretty large hole to work through and get the keys. Just put everything back in place other than the metal plate and you will never know anything was done.

SOURCE: 2006 Pontiac G6 GTP window auto close/open

OMG. I replaced the battery in my 06 G6 and had the same problem. the windows would not roll up or down how they did before. I read the answers on here and it does work. Hold up the window switch for ten seconds and it resets. You will have to do it to each window. Worked great. Thanks

SOURCE: Trunk Latch will not pull closed.

The small switch is the trunk by the pull down motor with the flap that depresses down is at fault. That is what you call the truck pull down switch. You can take this part and show it to a Cadillac or Ford parts department sales person and get a replacement for you car. Ford uses the same part for their Lincolns and Crown Vic's. The part is made by the very same supplier for Ford & GM. Ford will sell this part at a much lower cost as well compared to GM

This sounds like a bad control or broken wire inside the door, you will need to remove the door panel and check for broken wires, also remove the controls and make sure all connectors are connected good and tight, this is where i would start also just check all of the fuses.

Where is the fuse for the windshield wipers on a 1999 Saturn SL?

It is located on the fuse panel on the Passenger side.
Look for the removable panel that is located below the radio/center bezel on the right side (passenger side). It's not part of the center shifter console, but just forward of it. Remove the panel marked "Fuses"! You will find the Wiper Fuse in this panel along with the fuses for the Radio, Accessory Power Plug/Lighter, Power Door Lock & Window Relays, Fuel Pump Relay, Cruise Control fuse, exc......
Hope this info helps!

I have a 99 saturn sl2 and juss my driver window wont go down or up.

You would check the wires going to the motor at the switch, or at the motor, for power and ground.
The switch reverses power and ground for up and down.
So one wire going to the motor has power and the other has ground in one direction, and the opposite in the other direction.

I have a 1999 Saturn SL2. The window on the driver side will not go up. At first I thought it was the buttons on the little piece between the seats that make the windows go up and down. I found out it...

63 year old lady go over to ebay and buy a new driver's door regulator, this is almost exactly 100 dollars with shipping. then call a local auto glass shop and make an appointment for them to install it, tell them you already have your own new regulator. I have had several of these put in 5 saturns over the years and never paid over 60 bucks labor. a glass shop will have the tools and fasteners on hand. stay the heck away from dealers on this.

Good morning, I have a 1999 saturn sc2 and the driver side window will not roll down. How do I do first?

Very common for window regulators to fail, especially on an 11 year old car and especially the driver's window. These can be found used and new aftermarket on ebay. Much cheaper than a dealer and have a glass shop do the replacement for you, $50 bucks labor instead of a couple hundred at a dealer. Get the whole regulator, not just a new lift motor.

If it is manual crank, that is what you need. If it is electric, rule out a bad switch first.

My 1999 saturn SL1 would not start w/o a jump. Then it began to start rather roughly now when i turn the ignition all i hear is 'electricity'. i have to get a jump to get it going

Sounds like you need to replace the battery. However you may have another issue and that could be your alternator. If the alternator is not recharging your battery while the car is running, then a new battery is going to die as well.

I need to remove dash pad on a 1999 saturn sl in order to check the blower motor and resistor ,I have tools ,I can.t find the bolts except on the door sides ,i don't know

Actually, all there is is the 2 - 7mm bolts above the center of the dash (in the cubby, under a couple of caps). Pry the cover up and you'll have access.

1999 Saturn SL2 drivers side window doesn't go down all the way then makes a grinding noise, when put up makes a grinding noise

It sounds like there is somthing wrong with the window regulatior ( the motor in the door that moves the window)
1.Remove the inner door pannel (all parts)
2. hook up the window controls & try moving window up or down, make sure window is moving propley in tracks and siscor arms are not bound up.
3.If all is well with the above stuff, just replace the window regulatior and test befor you reasembil the door pannel
