You didn't mention the speedometer...is it lit ok ?
Just a thought but you may have inadvertently pressed the Night Panel button on the dash.
Pretty dramatic effect ... seems to get a lot of saabists a bit on edge.
Good short vid demo on it on yew toob:https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=oipPr403CK...

Hope that's all it turned out to be as the prospect of fault finding and repair on BCM (body control module) is daunting and can be expensive

money was spent but i dont know if it was specifically this, the car had some serious body damage, so i dont know if they actually worked on this. could it be a fuse?

it could be and can be a damaged harness --bcm accident damage can cause damage to any thing

could be the solenoid on the starter is going bad. but best bet is to get a whole new stasrter as a new solenoid comes on it. solenoid is almost as expensive as getting both together

Ok, those systems might still work because the not require as much energy as the starter. Check the Battery Voltage with a good Voltmeter. If below 12, there might be your problem!

Ok, you most likely need to replace the coolant level sensor. It sounds like it out. If that doesn't fix it let me know.

The radio seems to have shorted out. Radio no longer turns on, and the turn signal no longer makes noise but still lights up. This is a 2003 saab 9-3 arc. I checked the fuses for the front dash and radio...

When this happend to my Saab 2003 9-3 it was the amp that was faulty. It is below the drivers seat and when getting in/out of my car water/snow must have got on it and blew it out. When I removed it there was corosion and rust on it-in my opinion it is a bad spot for a amp. Dealer quoted me $1300 to replace. I am currently looking for less expensive options. I did discover a website www.saabradio.com that may be of help to you.
