SOURCE: 2006 Corolla: Check engine light is on - gears shift is not smooth

GOOD NEWS!!!!
You have an issue that Toyota knows about; there is a programming problem with the ECM in the vehicle, and Toyota has released a Tech Service Bulletin (TC015-07) to cure your problem.
You probably have a DTC code of P-2716...The ECM needs replaced with an updated unit.
PLUS: this repair should be covered for 96 months of use, or up to 80,000 miles. The replacement ECU will be installed totally for free. Call your local Toyota dealer & get an appointment.

SOURCE: 1996 Saturn auto trans will not shift into 4th

Check your transmission fluid. If it is bright almost pinkish-red then it is not the transmission. If it is dark red or brown then you need to either get a flush done or replace your transmission depending on the severity.

SOURCE: 4l60e slips in 3rd and 4th

There are to many things that can cause this problem, best thing to is go get the ECM scanned for DTC codes at a transmission shop or Auto zone or Parts Source since they scan for free.
The ECM should have DTC code in it's memory on how the transmission is Performing and have the Transmission line tested for Fluid pressure.
Good luck and hope this helps. Oh and also ways check with more then on transmission shop if there tell you that you need a new Transmission,
It could be a simple as the transmission filter falling off causing the lost of transmission fluid pressure. Check the transmission fluid too.

My 93 LS400 defaulted to 3rd gear. Does anyone know whats wrong

Now, I'm not saying this is a fact, but my TH700R4 trans did that very thing, wouldn't come out of third. And with no 3rd it won't go to overdrive. I rebuilt the trans and found the overdrive drum was all scarred and caused the limp home thing to happen, third gear was as high as it would go. I suggest you have the trans checked out by a professional trans shop. As for it being a bear to start, that's a faulty temperature sensor. If it's not functioning, the computer doesn't know to put it into cold start mode, which increases the throttle speed and puts more fuel in the engine for starting when cold. Like a automatic choke system in earlier vehicles.

My car trans will not go into 4th gear it goes into 2 and 3rd easy but when it shifts into 4th it grinds , like its not all the way in , and when i go down a hill if i let go of gas and then push gas again...

Sounds like you have a manual transmission. The problem as described is more than likely a worn detent on the shift rail. This is a job for a gearbox specialist.

1998 gmc safari 4.3l automatic transmission code po753 shift solenoid a.what are the symtoms if soleniod is actually defective and is the soleniod attached to the valve body.

Yes the Solenoid is attached to the valve body and if you got a defective one that means you will be having problems and delays with shifting and you might lose one of the gears like 4th or 3rd .

Automatic gears

Honda transmissions,as well as most other overdrive transmissions, should be driven at all times in drive 4,or the overdrive position, with the exception of severe driving conditions, such as towing a load, extremely hilly terrain,or long uphill grades, the trans should be taken out of overdrive, and placed in the drive 3 position. This is to prevent the perpetual shifting back and forth of the trans from 3rd into 4th,back to 3rd,back to 4th,back to 3rd,that would eventually damage both the 3rd and 4th gear clutch discs and components.
