SOURCE: No glow plug light, car turns over but won't start, no CEL or codes

I don't have the solution but a possible help in diagnosing.  If you remove the water temperature sensor connector from the sensor, the glow plug light should stay on when you go to start the car.  Try leaving it on for 15 seconds and then start the car.  If it starts right away, it is your sensor.  If it doesn't, the good luck.
The sensor is located on the right side of the engine near the top, at the back.  It is in the coolant fitting directly behind the hose from the rad, just left of the thermostat.  Be careful to disconnect the wires, and not remove the sensor, or you will loose a lot of coolant.  The sensor is held in by a separate plastic clip, and the harness just has a little built in clip on the side.  Hope you have small hands...

SOURCE: The glow plug light flashes while the engine is

this means you most likely have a burnt out glow plug or glow plug timer control or both

SOURCE: Jaguar glow plug problem

The Glow plug coming on, and the car going into limp home mode, is a default safety feature that occurs when the engine management system picks up any kind error message from the many sensors now used on the car.
I've found the glow plug light problem with my Jag, it was the air filter. Apparently Jaguar servicing change it every 3rd service (not a good idea). I changed mine, it is a new car. I had the EPR valve cleaned and a major diagnostic carried out by a local garage (who had the Jag diagnostic software). It turns out I also need a new Turbo; the actuator is sticking (£759.00 plus 3 hours labour). But hey, the main limp home mode problem is fixed and I can drive my Jag confident it will accelerate when press the gas.

SOURCE: 02 VW Jetta TDI with ALH engine glow plug

this is a common problem for these cars glow plugs go bad like spark plugs however the smoke would lead to bad mass airflow meter. it is not telling ecu corrcet miss. disconnect mass airflow meter. when cold see if this makes it start better. it should would means you need new m.a.f. glow plug issue take a test light place clamp on positive of battery then pull off glow plug connectors place tip of test light on glow plug the bad one will have a dull light unlike the good one which will be brighter. will need new plugs and wire harness four **** connectors and wire striper and crimper will fix concern good luck

SOURCE: engine managment light flashes (glow plugs light)

the car is going into limp mode due to an engine management fault. have to check what the fault is with a code reader. if the milage is high 100,000+ could be a turbo fault (overboosting), as this will put the car into limp mode.

GLOW PLUG LIGHT FLASHING FAULT CODE 003813

The glow plug symbol is seen on diesel-powered engines, and it lights up to denote that the glow plugs are still warming up. Do not crank up the engine until this light goes away. However, if the light remains even when the car has been powered up, you may have a faulty glow plug.

Ford focus tdci not starting and white smoke coming out of the exhaust

It is a clear case of the glow plugs malfunction. It had happened with my neighbor who tried to start his diesel focus one day.
Even jump starting with another battery didn't solve the starting problem.

You could also check the EGR valve for damages and if you want to save a couple of bucks, then go in for used parts for the focus from Good used Focus Stuff

Ford transit 2005 2-5 turbo diesel, Start up,but only runs for 2 to 3 sec then stop & heater plug light flashes with ignition still on.

sound like glow plugs wires harness disconnected or wires could be damaged during the transmission installation since transmission has to be remove when replacing flywheel.

If i let my 7.3 ford diesil set 4 or 5 hour it hard to start again

A diesel uses glow plugs to fire the fuel when it is first started. If one glow plug quits working the glow plug controler shortens the time that the rest are on. If two its even shorter. If the wait to start light goes off sooner than it used to check the glow plugs.
Glow plugs can be checked easy with a test light.
Unplug a glow plug. (located on the head by the injector).
Just hook up a test light to battery positive (+) and touch the other end to the glow plug connector. If the light lights that one is o.k. Check all 8. Replace any that dont work.
If the glow plug system is working then check for fuel leaks. If fuel can leak out than air can get sucked in the fuel system and cause a hard start.
There is also a transfer pump on the frame rail under the drivers seat. This can be a issue if it fails.
When the key is first turned on this pump will come on and prime the system. You can hear it if you get close to it.
I hope this helps you. Re-post if you need more info.

2002 bora pd engine glow plug light is flashing and engine cranked for 30 seconds or so before starting and now it wont start at all. i swapped relay 901 but it made no difference it just cranks over.

most likely bad glow plugs and wire harness. take a test light attach to positve side of battery and touch the top of the glow plug see the one that does not light the test light up is your bad one then look in the harness at the connectors if the are dull and not shiney you will need to replace the harness just take the harness and cut and **** connect them together it is easier than running to ecm. good luck. also check you air filter make sure it is not clogged.
