SOURCE: Location of O2 Sensors on 1996 Dodge Ram 1500 ?

Follow your exhaust manifold down from engine to exhaust pipes etc, you should see them sticking out, 3"-4" approx.length, with wires coming from them. Some are right on manifold, some further down on exhaust pipes.

I took a 5.9 motor from a 1996 dodge ram 1500 and put it in a 2001 ram 1500 with the 2001 transmission what PCM should I use one from a 1996 or 2001

You will have to use the one from the 1996. When Chrysler switched to OBD II they started setting all major components to the VIN number in an effort to reduce vehicle theft for chop shops. The ECU for the 1996 is set to the body control module for that truck. Switch any sensors or sending units from the 1996 to the 2001 engine that are not the same.

1996 dodge ram 1500....p0505

p0505 is a code for your IAC (idle air control valve) located right below the TPS (throttle positioning sensor). Beware it is not necessarily the sensor. If you use a test light on the connection coming to it while the vehicle is running and rev the motor each terminal (probably four) should flash. In this case it is most likely your sensor. If not it is in the wiring or your pcm.
