Seems to happen more often when using cruise but not solely. Once did it 5 times in a row within a couple minutes. I kept resetting cruise and it stopped firing.
Sounds like a transmisson issue. Have you checked the trans fluid?

It sounds like the connection to the cluster is not making good contact.

Finally got mine fixed. It was a faulty Cruise Control Module..

Try doing a "Brain Kill" on the van. Disconnect both battery terminals, and (MAKE SURE THEY ARE NOT CONNECTED TO THE BATTERY!!!!!) touch and hold them together for at least 10 seconds. Mopars hold onto their faults, even after the repairs. Huge problem for transmission shops, but that's another topic. My 99 Dakota had the Speed Sensor fail, and it wouldn't shift until I "Killed" the ECM and BCM's memories.
Good Luck!!!

Could have a ABS wheel speed sensor going bad, once this happens will disable the ABS and the trac control. Have it scanned and find out which sensor is bad. Small possibility of ABS module failure, but not as likely.
