SOURCE: I need to know how to change the water pump

Your gonna need these tools,
deep 15mm socket
3/8 extension
3/8 ratchet
1/4 ratchet
pliers
wd40 or something like it
10mm socket, can be deep or shallow, doesnt matter,
14mm wrenchm the longer the better
floor jack
1/2 long ratchet
19mm socket
1 inch 3/8 extension
medium size flat head screw driver
metal scraper
jack stands,or something of the sort
coolant drain,or a big container,to hold coolant,
that should be it for tools,,,
.... jack up the front passenger side and put a jack stand under the rocker area to hold car up,, remove the wheel with the 19mm socket and long 1/2 ratchet, break these nuts loose before you jack it up,,,,,,
...inside the right wheel well area to the right you will see a black splash shield, there is 1 push pin that holds this shield to the subframe, pop the center of the push pin up and out with the flat blade screw driver.and then pop the rest of the push pin out,,now at the top of the splash shield youll see a little tab pop that out with the flat blade screw driver,,,then at the right bottom there is a tab that sticks out the splash shield to the subfram just pop it out with the screw driver and now the shield should be off,now you can see the water pump to the top right of the opening,,,
...there are 3 10mm bolts that hold the water pump pulley onto the water pump, you need to loosen these first other wise your not gonna get them loose after the belts off,so loosen the 3 10mm bolts,,
,,,,under the front of the car you will see a black radiator splsh shield running the width of the car from left to right directly under the radiator, you need to remove it,there are 2 push pins on each side take them out and it will fall off,,,,,
,,,remove the coolant cap (providing you car is cold)let the car off for now,,,
spray a little WD40 on the radiator petcock on the passenger front of the radiator at the bottom, you will see it,,,some of these have a flat tab on it and some use a 1/4 ratchet hole in them so if you got the hole do the 1/4 ratchet,if you got the tab use a pliers to loosen the petcock like 1/2 or so,do not remove the petcock,,if it seems hard to open just lube it some more and work it in and out til it loosens up,,,,,make sure you have the coolant drain under and ready to go.,,,so now drain the coolant,,sometimes after you turn the petcock nothing comes out even thou its open,if this happens just pull the petcock out with the pliers a little and it should be draining now,,,,,now take the jack and place it under the oil pan with the handle facing to the front of the car and jack it up til you have alittle tension on the oil pan,,,,now go under the hood and at the coolant resivor you will see a black engine mount right there its held on by 5 15mm nuts remove all these and take mount off,,,now jack up the jack till you see the engine stop going up,,,,,now you have room to remove the serp belt,,,,the tensioner is mid way down the engine and to the left under the power steering pump,,use the 14mm wrench and turn the tensioner till the belt is loose and then take the belt off,,,,,,now let the engine come down off the jack and go into the fender well and remove those 3 10mm water pump pulley bolts, then jack the engine back up and tilt the pulley til it comes out the top,,,,now remove as many of the water pump mounting bolts from the top as you can,,,,once youve done that, let the engine off the jack and go into the fender well and remove the remaining water pump mouting bolts, and then take the water pump out thru the wheel well area,,,use the metal scraper to make sure there is no gasket and or dirt on the engine block where the new pump will mount,,,it needs to be clean,,,,,,,once the gasket area of the engine black is clean,,,get the new pump and gasket and put it on the engine from the wheel well area,, i usually start the bottom 2 water pump blots by hand and then jack up the engine and go put the top bolts in front the top of the engine,,,once they are all started go and tighten them all,,good and snug,,,make sure the gasket is on there correctly,or it will leak,,,depending on where you got the pump from the gasket may or may not be attached to the pump firmly,if its not i dab some RTV sealer on it to keep it in place till i got the bolts tight, next put the pulley back on from the top just like you removed it,,,with the engine jacked up put the serp belt on,,,,,wrap the belt around the crank first then up around the tensioner then the power steering pump ,,then on the right side go around the water pump and A/C pulley and dip it under the idler pulley in the center of the engine, now pull the tensioner so you got slack and slip it onto thatlast idler pulley i just mentioned,,,let the jack half way down and install the top engine mount,,,close the petcock and put sheild back on,,,,,put wheel well shield back on,,and tires, wheel,,,let jack down off engine,,,let car off jack stand,,,fill with new coolant, water and let it run alittle with the coolant cap off to allow the air to come out,so keep checking it to see if the coolant went down and it will,,then once its not talking anymore coolant put the cap on and drive it,,,,,let car cool off and recheck level,,,that should be about it,,its a easy process like 1/2 with air tools,,,,good luck i hope this helped you

2000 saturn SL car was broke into ignition switch

I'm guessing the antitheft worked then? Getting the codes and reprogramming a new switch, because it sounds like your switch is damaged probably beyond repair, is most likely a dealer only job. Be sitting down when they tell you how much!!

How to put a timing belt on a 2000 saturn ls

ls or sl two different models. 3.0 v6 has a belt kind of tricky take it to a shop. the chain on the sl or ls 4cyl 2.2 or 2.4 is also kinda tricky. the motor will be junk if you mess the timing up so leave it to a pro. there are a lot of out of work saturn guys around this would be a good side job.

Bought saturn SL 2000 at auction, drove it home and it's steaming out of radiator cap, filled with new antifreeze and bought new cap, appears to be leaking out and there is a light on on the dash of course...

The light is letting you know that the engine is oveheating. You did not mention how many miles are on the car, so the over heating could be a number of factors; Thermostat is stuck closed, cooling fan is not operating, radiator is leaking...to name a few.

Just bought a 2000 saturn sl class. runs rough at start-up, runs great when warmed up. changed fuel pump and filter, plugs and wires. no difference. guessing throttle control (choke)

The problem here is the ECTS. Engine Coolant Temp. Sensor. It cost around $12 dollars and takes maybe 5 mins to fix with a 13mm socket. Saturn SL series built before november 2001 have a plastic ECTS. When you buy the new one make sure it has the brass tip as some parts stores still carry the cheap plastic one
