Clear the trouble codes in the obd2 using a od2 scantool. or unhook battery cables for about 5 minutes. sometimes this will clear the codes that turn on check engine light. the light will stay on until the codes are cleared.

A scan tool is the only way to reset the SES light. there may be a resean the light is on make sure to record all codes. I would take it back to the tech that serviced the van possibly something was left loose.

Will check engine light turn on if serpantine belt needs replacing?

No. The service engine soon light will come on for other reasons than a cracked belt that is largely still intact and turning the accessory pulleys.

Have 92 acura legend no fier please tell me what going on

your car should be equiped with a 3.2L OHC V6 the most common thing on these old Acura's was a broken timming belt, does the engine seam to crank very fast? if it does suppect the belt. you will need to remove the top covers on the engine and see if the camshafts are turning. i have included a diagram of the belt setup check the belt and get back with me, if it is the belt you will neeed to put the engine back into valve timing....talk to you soon

Hi my 1997 nisan sentra has the service engine soon light on my mechanic says i may have to replace the timing belt soon is it worth it? i keep hearing a ticking sound and it only seems to be getting...

a timing belt change is not monitored by the service engine soon light.it comes on when the computer detects a problem and sets a code.the code will have to be pulled to know what area to start to diagnose.the ticking could be anything from low or dirty oil needing to be changed to the valves may need adjusting, even a worn or dry belt can make a ticking sound.you don`t say how many miles are on the car or if you have changed the timing belt.if the mileage is over 100,000 kil(60,000 miles) then it should be changed.

Replace timing belt on Volvo S60

There is no room for error...... Zero clearance. If off one tooth it can and will bend valves. if you are one that just feels the need to get alittle dirty or just can't pay for the service, then get out your Haynes out and turn to .....Tune up, and look at replacing timming belt. Get a cam gear tool that locks them into place so as that they will not move when u have them lined up. make sure they are lined up with marks as said in book. then make sure crank as well as all marks are lined up acordingly. make sure belt marks are lined up with everything. i would reccomend using a volvo belt though cause it will have all the marks on it.However other company's make good quality belts also at a fraction of the price. So it is really up to you.
Good thing when doing timming belt is to also change out your timming belt tensioner. YES do this it will save you a engine in the long run. it is a moving part that will go bad, it will freeze up and snap timming belt. rip out teeth in thebelt and bend valves. So as a gen rule...When you change timming belt, Change belt tensioner at same time since you cant just change tensioner without changing or getting timming belt off. Remember to use your HAYNES. It is your friend and will save you money in the long run. Good luck... Hope this helps you.

My volvo has 150000 miles when is time to change timming belt

Timing belt
For proper functioning of the engine and its emission control systems, the timing belt and belt tensioner must be replaced every 105,000 miles (168,000 km) or at 120,000 miles (193,000 km) for the 2.5T engine on AWD models. Engine damage will occur if the belt fails.

The car hasnt died yet? thats lucky

"engine damage" is a euphemism for, the camshaft will stop as soon as the belt breaks, jamming at least one valve open, the valve head will smash through the piston crown on the next piston upstroke, and large fragments of hardened steel will rattle around in the engine chewing up everything they meet untill the engine seizes
time taken ~3 seconds.

probably a good time replace it, its due to fail now even if the 105K is a conservative fail safe number
