I think I would check fuses and make sure you have good wire connections. If your battery ground is corroded or rusted badly you may have a bad connection and the battery will not charge properly. I found these link's which may apply to your situation.
Hope this will help

SOURCE: Charging Light On After Replacing Alternator/Battery1999Windstar

Hi, I can't tell you exactly what is wrong because there is too much involved at this point, what with 2 shops working with it, but I can give you some advise on what else to check. On the alternators and the wiring that supports them a small volt charge is taken off one of the slip rings, where the brushes ride, for the purpose of turning out the light. As I remember, this is a yellow wire that runs back to the dash.

To the alternator, it would be one of the wires that plug into the side of the alternator case.

SOURCE: elec problem between alternator and battery

The Problem was that the plug-in that goes into the altenator was not getting a good conection. Drove the van after that I had it fixed and the battery light came back on and I checked the altenator and the plug-in had fallen completly off. Plugged it back in and made sure that it snapped in completly and now it is fine.

SOURCE: Dead battery, replaced battery and alternator but still no charge!

if its not charging while running at14.5 volts or so you have a charging problem mabey no power to the alternator if its charging at 14.5 or so and the batery load tests good and its going dead over night you have a draw from some component in the system.

2002 Chevy Silverado 4.8 V8 4x4 my temperature gauge went to zero my fuel gauge went to empty my security light come on and my battery light comes ?

just buy this car like that, not told any history.?
never have I seen any IMMO security failure allow engine to run so my guess means doors ajar or the like.(only, body alarm stuff)
battery lamp means alternator is dead. charge lamp. it is wired directly too lamp to alternator pin.
it means ALT is bad, or its fuse to it blown
or battery cells shored, and ALT goes off line to prevent battery explosion. (ruptured and ACID all over things horror)

if cranking sounds normal the battery is ok for now , but will die soon.. 13-15vdc at the battery car idling
if lower volts ALT is bad, or 3 fuse blown to it.

Battery light has been coming on & off dashboard now it's starting to not want to start(crank)

That battery lamp is really named wrong, it is the Alternator (gen) lamp, and if it glows, most times the ALT is bad
or fuses blown. 3 fuses, #1 ,#2 fuse and # alt-s,,
this makes the battery go dead, parked or driving. dead ALT.
so , charge the battery first using a thing called a battery chargers.
if that sounds hard, tow the car to any ASE shop to fix it.
walmart does batteries new but never do the do alternators. new.
see? only real shops do it all. end to end.

The whole car runs off that Alternator, (gen) if bad the battery goes dead fast, even in 1 hours driving, and then car stalls or you
key off and the starter can not crank the engine now, that the battery is mostly discharged.
to start the car a jumper cable start up will work but we see removing the cables the engine stalls that is a dead alternator
the car the lamp glowing is called CHARGE lamp, and is wired directly to the ALTERATOR pin B4 AND WHEN GLOWS
  • ALT IS BAD,
  • 3 FUSES TO ALT ARE BAD.
  • OR BELT DRIVING ALT IS LOOSE OR SLIPPING ETC.
pin b3 is ECU controls of ALT.

Battery not charging new alternator still not charging

Did you check power an grounds at the alternator ? The heavy gage wire on the back of the alternator should have B+ voltage , if not fusible link is blown . The connector ,pin's 1 & 3 should have B+ voltage also . There are videos on youtube on checking charging systems . Do you know how to do automotive electrical testing ? How to use a DVOM - digital volt ohm meter ?

2000 Ford Ranger is killing alternators immediately after install

the best way to test an alternator is with a load test-partstores dont do that--battery may still have a bad cell even tho it tested good--an alternator can burn up charging a completely dead batt--make sure batt reads at 12.6volts and no less-----if it reads say at 12.3 its only 50% charged!

Sounds like the alternator / voltage regulator is malfunctioning or there is a bad connection to / from the alternator / battery.

Do you have a multimeter so you could test the alternator -- or could you take the car to a parts store such as Auto Zone where they could test the alternator for you ?

I have a dodge caravan 2002 it wont charge put on new alternator, and computer. it still wont charge. the wire on the back of the alternator is not showing any fire?

Why do you feel it isn't charging. Are you going off of a voltage ereadiing? I ask because if it is reading 12 v at the battery , Do not run it very long. The lower the voltage the higher the amps. An Alternator will ocweheat and self destruct if it is working at its high limit for 15 minutes or so. A heavy charge iis normal for 30 seconds or so to make up for the starting drain. But, should show a gradual rise within seconds. An alternator is for battery charge maintenance only and should never be used to charge a dead battery. A dead battery can an will over tax the alternator for too long. A defective battery will do the same thing and it is usually why you have to change the alternator in the first place. So, If your battery is dead or extremely lpw, it should be charged with a charger Do not put a new or rebuilt Aly. sgainst a possible bad battery. It costs nothing to have your batt load tested by a auto parts store. Good Luck=Ned-.

Battery Charge

The best way is to get a voltmeter and check the voltage of the battery with the truck running and not running. When the truck is running, the voltage across the battery terminals should be aboput 14.9 volts (showing the alternator is charging the battery). With the truck off, the battery voltage should be about 12 volts (showing that the battery is holding the charge). From there, you should be able to tell which is bad.
