Your best bet , take it to a dealer . The wipers are controlled by the BCM - body control module .
The Wiper/Washer System consists of the following components:
• Windshield wiper/washer switch
• Body control module (BCM)
• Wiper micro relay
• Wiper 2 relay
• Wiper diode
• Windshield wiper motor
• Windshield washer pump
• Windshield washer nozzles
• Windshield washer solvent container
• Windshield wiper arm and blade assemblies
• Windshield wiper transmission
• WIP/WASH 10A fuse
• WIPER 25A fuse
Testing for DTC'S - diagnostic trouble code's should be the first step in diagnostic process . No part store can check code's in BCM.
You have no idea of the complexity of the electronic's on your vehicle.
Moving the ignition switch to the START position signals the body control module (BCM) that engine crank has been requested. The BCM verifies that theft is not active and sends a serial data message to the powertrain control module (PCM) requesting engine start. The BCM also energizes the RUN/CRANK RELAY. When the RUN/CRANK RELAY switch side closes, and the vehicle is in Park/Neutral or with the clutch fully depressed, if equipped, supply voltage is applied to the PCM CNTRL relay coil. The PCM verifies the transmission is in Park/Neutral or if the clutch is fully depressed, if equipped. The PCM will then ground the control circuit of the PCM CNTRL relay, closing the switch suppling voltage to the starter solenoid. On some vehicles the starter will continue to crank the engine with the key released until it starts, the crank command has timed out to prevent excessive heat build up in the starter circuitry or the PCM receives an engine run flag.

Probably something shorting out. This is something that probably isn't going to be easy to figure out. You need someone that can diagnose it in person
SOURCE: winsheild wipers wont park or work properly
you will need to chage the relay for the washer wipe once cycle

Try replacing the wiper module. It is the part on the wiper motor that does all the functions when you push or turn on the wipers. To replace it you remove the cover from the wiper motor and you will see the circuit board.you can just pry it out with a small screw driver. Most dealerships have these in stock. When you replace it make sure and use a silicone sealer on the cover to keep the water out.Good luck.

the only thing i can say is the timer in the wiper motor is going bad and will not shut off. change wiper motor.

I see you had one answer to your question. What did the dealership have to say? My 2007 H3 did the exact same thing; just curious where to look.
Hello, having the exact same problem. started changing out relays one by one. on another post the dealer replaced the whole fuse box. a short was the answer given. the person said it solved the problem.
Did anyone get a solution to this problem, mine is doing the exact same thing, I start it, put it in gear and it shuts off and the windshield wipers come on. I removed the wiper fuse in the box and it is fine, but now I have no wipers. I am assuming a short somewhere in the wiper circuitry but I am looking for a specific
