The ticking sound is known by GM and they left it. It is actually a lifter waiting to get enough oil to pump it up correctly. As the motor gets older this will continue longer and longer as more lifters join in. The engine will start sounding like a sewing machine. Simple Replace the oil pump with a High Volume High Pressure one, all lifter ticking will go away. Put in three of them now.

SOURCE: engine making ticking sound when hot

the internal combustion of the main valve is most likely either clogged or it has a loose spark plug that is constantly providing a spark without oil. Either that or your break pads have gone bad or just some seats and stuff loose, I'd have it checked on by your nearest professional.

I Have a 92' golf 2 Gti the 1.8 8Valve model. My hydrolic lifters are very noisy.when i start the car in the morning they are quiet but as soon as the motor warms up and i drive around a bit they become very loud.I have a small dent in my oil sump and im unsure as to wether that could be causing the oil pick up to be restricted as to the amount of oil it can pump up to the head. How do I combat it or is it just maybe wear and tear on the lifters?

SOURCE: SUBARU IMPREZA DONT RESTART .

Sounds like a sensor is breaking down under heat of engine.
Try the Crank sensor (under the alternator at front of engine with a 2 pin multiplug attached. Or the Cam sensor (more likely) placed behind the oil filler neck and looks the same as the crank sensor. Breakers should sell you these for approx £20 each.
If no joy let me know.

SOURCE: 98 Cadillac Northstar motor running hot in 30 min.

The normal operating temperature for the Northstar engine is around 210 degrees.
The fans will not come on until the temp hits 225 degrees.

The thermostat in the northstar engine is located at the bottom radiator hose (unlike most conventional cooling systems).

The most common overheating problem with the Northstar engine is a blocked purge line(small hose). The purge line is designed to purge air out of the cooling system.
There is a small diameter hose coming from near the top of the coolant tank (not the cap) ,this is the purge line.
With the engine idling, pull the purge line from the tank,if there is no coolant flow from this small hose,it is blocked and this will cause overheating. If the hose is clear, check for blockage at the nipple on the tank.Or trace the hose back until you find the blockage. The hose goes in to the engine to a crossover and comes out the other side to near the thermostat housing, the blockage may be there.

If the other end of your purge line is not connected to anything then that is the problem......it must be reconnected otherwise the cooling system is not pressurized.

08 LR2 AC/Heater making a hooting noise.

I am willing to bet your blower motor is starting to go. The sound is probably from the motor brushes against the back of the motor as it rotates. They will eventually stop running all together someday and you will either need to source new brushes or replace the whole fan unit.

Ticking behind glovebox

Does it sound like the noise the turn signal makes? Does the noise change if you change the speed of the blower motor? Do all the function of the heater work (defrost, vent, floor, recirculate, fresh air, hot, cold)?

A ticking sound on a 06 ford f150 super crew 5.4L

Ticking sound could be coming from a Coil-on-Plug, or a pcv valve, or (hope it's not) a valve lifter which could be sticking. Sticking lifter noise often disappears when rpm's change, or the noise comes & goes. try changing the motor oil & filter right after adding an Engine-Flush Treatment to the motor oil, running the engine for 10 minutes at idle with treatment added to the oil, then draining the oil & changing filter while oil is still very hot. That last part is very important, so be careful not to burn your hands - be careful. -- The sticking lifter is a likely cause if motor oil has not been changed at frequent intervals in the past (every 3-4K miles) -- dirty oil causes sticking lifters.

My camaro started smelling hot I checked the radiator fluid let it cool down and it started makeing ticking noises from the motor i think and its running weird does anyone know wats wrong?

Your motor it knocking. Ether your lifters or rockers. I would stop driving it immediately and take it to a mechanic who can fix the problem before it gets any worse. You may be able to save your self from having to rebuild the whole motor. The last thing you want to do it throw a rod.

'96 VW Golf GL with 2.0 motor. Cold start knock

It sounds like the hydraulic lifters are bleeding down after sitting for a while... there are ball checks which are supposed to prevent this... Try using a good engine flush (a product that frees sticky lifters) and replace the oil with a good synthetic... Hope this helps...;-)

Renault megane scenic RX4 climate control fan has failed

the vehicle is old enough that the fan blower motor sounds like it is in need of replacing. when you hit the dash it causes the brushes in the motor to contact enough to start the electrical connection, it may stop when it gets hot, or is turned off. the ticking sound is more than likely the bearings wore in the motor enough to cause the cage fan to touch the housing enough to cause the sound.
