Transmission converter may be stalling it out. Lockup converter solenoid may be not releasing and causing the engine to stall or brake switch may be bad not signalling solenoid to release . Do your brake lights work when applied ?

It does sound like a vacuum leak. Get a can of WD-40 and start spraying around the carb. It will rev up, and U can pin point the loose vacuum hose, are crack vacuum hose.

hello, i had the same problem with my dodge. i used throuttle body cleaner. took off air intake pipe off motor and sprayed it in the throuttle body with motor running to clean out carban build up. now everything is fine now. hope this helps.
