SOURCE: 2000 jetta need to remove steering wheel

This is not an easy procedure, especially since you've never done it before. With the wheels in the straight ahead position, look at the back of the steering wheel, you'll see two holes. One at 9 o'clock and one at 3 o'clock. You stick a small flat blade screwdriver in the first hole and you pry on the retaining spring while gently pulling on the airbag until it releases. Repeat on the other side. I'm a professional mechanic and the first time I did it, it took me over a half hour to figure it out. Now I can do it in less than a minute. Might want to take it to the dealer.

What would cause key won't turn, steering wheel locked, car in park, brake hard

It sounds like the steering lock has gone hard due to turning the wheel after key is out, turn the key and steering wheel at the same time and see if this releases the lock. Hope this helps

Where on a 2000 windstar is the fuse box?

Hi, The fuse panel is located below and to the left of the steering wheel by
the brake pedal. Remove the panel cover to access the fuses.
To remove a fuse use the fuse puller tool provided on the fuse panel cover.

Fuse details are in your owners manual beginning on page 182.

How do you change a rack and pinion on a ford windstar

This is a repair that should not be attempted by a novice! Put the van in the air, remove the front wheels, remove the cotter keys from the tie rod ends and remove the nuts and separate from the spindle,Remove the Power steering lines from the rack and pinion unit,Remove the single bolt that attaches the rack to the steering shaft,Remove the two large steering rack mounting bolts from the engine/transaxle cradle, with support under the engine/transaxle cradle remove the rear mounting bolts slowly lower the cradle slowly to gain access to remove rack assembly and reverse for installation. NOTE: Install new seals on the power steering lines and when removing outer tie rods from the rack count how many turns it takes to remove the end and put it back on the same amount of turns. Refill the system with proper fluid and have the vehicle Front end aligned!!!!!!!!

1999 Windstar has the air bag light on the horn is not working and the controls on dash (gas temp etc) just goes wild flopping everywhere.

under your steering wheel, is a part called a clock spring which controls your airbag/horn........removal of steering wheel is necessary
it looks like a round thing with multiple colored wires coming out of it.
the replacement is available at your local Ford dealer

PS: disconnect battery first! you will need a steering wheel puller to do the job.
