02 camry head lights stay on when key is off - 2002 Toyota Camry

i would be a problem with the little depress button on the door or on the door frame, what make the beep stop when key is in ignition and door open. it also make the internal light and the igniton light go so in dark can see key whole, hope this helps, just to note it may be any of the doors faulty depressor thing, they all have them,

Could be the sensor in the key switch telling you the key is still in the lock.

try taking a hammer and lightly tap on the key as you try to pull it out. i have done this on a 01 ford focus and 02 toyota camry. good luck

what lights? headlights? dash lights? I would check the connections. If its the starter usually you will hear a heavy "click" when you turn the key.

You may have a siezed up head light relay, look in your user manul to locate the relay and tap it to see if it drops out. You should hear a click when you turn the head lights turn on and off.
If you pull the relay out while the lights are on, you should hear a click when the relay drops out, if you do then it is not the relay, it could be a switch

Did the engine turn over or not ,,if yes then you
could have something like no spark. no fuel pressure .no compression.etc etc .
If the engine did not turn over but just made a clicking noise then you have a problem like FLAT
Battery or starter motor problem .or feed wire broken
so turn on head lights and turn key if lights go out the battery is flat or dead/if lights stay on starter u/s

Even though there is no check engine light I would still take it to Auto Zone to see if there are any stored codes.

check battery connection. make sure terminals are clean. and make sure the terminals are not loose when connected
