On my 2005 Honda Odyssey, I noticed that on the instrument panel the gear position lights come on when vehicle is in P, R, 2 and L gear positions but not when the van is in N or D.

SOURCE: 2005 Honda Odyssey brake light housing removal

Yes, there is a spear point style clip that is holding the assembly. Wrap a flat blade screwdriver with some masking tape (prevents paint scratches) and pry between the forward outboard corner of the brake light housing and the car body. You want to pry the assembly rearward.

How to make accessory ports live all the time

Your accessory port is wired in through the ignition so it turns off when the key is in the off position. The only way around this is to run of wire from a 12 V full-time hot source through to the accessory port. You need to know what you're doing to be able to do this correctly or you can short out your entire instrument panel and possibly make your vehicle stop running and void any warrantees.

I have a 2001 Honda Civic that did not pass emissions test. My

A. DTC P1705: Short in Transmission Range Switch (TRS) Circuit. The TRS lights the A/T gear position indicator in the instrument panel shows which gear has been selected.

The PCM also uses this information in order to manage the fuel system for maximum efficiency. The most obvious symptom you will see is the A/T gear position indicator lights will not come on or come on in the wrong position.

Once this is repaired emissions should pass

How to replace light bulb on a clock 2004 Honda Odessey

Here are the steps:

1. Undo the panels to the left and right of the steering column.
2. Remove the panel that encloses the instrument cluster.
3. Replace the light bulb located on the back of the panel (removed in step 2).
4. Reinstall the instrument panel (removed in step 2).
5. Reinstall the panels on the left and right of the steering column.

Here are the details:

FIRST - Disconnect the battery. Be careful to locate the radio security code and radio station memory locations before you disconnect though. I chose to disconnect the ground (black wire) from the battery. Be careful to put the cable away from the battery terminal.

Step 1: Undo the panels to the left and right of the steering column.
a. Put on your parking break. You'll want to prevent the car from moving because you will soon put the car in gear.
b. Put your keys and turn to the starting position (but don't try to start the car). This allows the gear lever to move.
c. Move the gear shift to lowest gear. This puts the gear shift lever to a place nearly out of the way of the panel so that you can pry it out.
d. Using bare hands, pull smartly on the plastic edge closest to the steering wheel. Pry out the panels by hand as they are both held by tabs. This is hardest to do the first time. Keep in mind that these are pieces of plastic, so be careful. Once panels are out, let them dangle. You only need access to the instrument panel screws.

Step 2: Remove the panel that encloses the instrument cluster.
e. Remove the 8 screws that keep the instrument cluster panel in place.
o Two on left of steering wheel
o Two on top of instrument cluster (upside-down)
o Four on right side of steering wheel
f. Wiggle/pry out the instrument cluster panel. Be careful as the center is held in stronger than the sides. In addition to screws, there are different tabs that assist in holding this in place.
g. Before removing the instrument cluster panel, disconnect the clock and emergency light electrical connectors. While the clock connector disconnects easily, the emergency light has a locking tab that needs to be pushed in to disconnect. I used a small screwdriver to push in the tab to get the connector to disconnect.
h. Remove the instrument panel. Turn it over and locate the clock's protective cover.
i. Open the clock's protective cover by loosening the tabs. Be very gentle to these tabs.
j. Once the cover is removed locate the light bulb.

Step 3: Replace the light bulb located on the back of the panel (removed in step 2).
k. Unscrew the light bulb and remove.
l. Install the new light bulb. Check the light bulb before you install it. Be careful when rotating the new light bulb. in place. I've read in other posts that the light bulbs are VERY sensitive. I used a small screwdriver with plastic on the head to screw the light bulb. in.
m. Replace the clock's protective cover.
o. Reconnect the clock and emergency light's electrical connectors.

Step 4. Reinstall the instrument panel (removed in step 2).
p. Fit the instrument cluster panel back into it's original position. Be careful with the fan vents. I suggest aligning the fan vents first, then fitting the panel.
q. Screw in the 8 screws that keep the instrument cluster panel in place.

Step 5. Reinstall the panels on the left and right of the steering column.
r. Push both panels back into place.
s. Move the gear shift lever back to park.
t. Remove the car key.
u. [Optional - disengage the parking brake]

LAST - Reconnect the battery.

TEST - Reinsert your keys and turn them to the starting position (but don't start the car). The clock light should light up.

Note: Because the power has been reset, you will need to enter the factory stereo code and reset your radio stations.

I recently got my (Honda Odyssey 2006) oil changed by a non Honda tech and now i need the service maintainence signal -code A14 reset so that i can be notified when the next oil change is due.

  • Lets get started. Place the key in the ignition and turn as if to start your minivan - but do not actually start your Odyssey.

  • 2) Locate and click the black odometer button located near the bottom of the instrument panel until "Oil Life" along with a percentage value appears.
  • 3) Release your finger from the button, then press and hold the button for ten (10) seconds.
  • 4) Once again, release your finger from the button, then press and hold the button for five (5) more seconds. Lets count: one Mississippi, two Mississippi, etc. all the way to five.
  • 5) Your Honda Odyssey's display panel should read "Oil Life 100%." You are done!

How do i replace instrument panel lights (heat and ac /fan info) on a 2005 honda odyssey

The center dashboard panel, which holds the climate control system, etc., must be gently pried up. Start at the bottom and work your way around. Once this is loose, disconnect the electrical connectors and the panel can be removed completely. The light bulbs are marked Gray and Black and are freed by a turning slightly. I think the only place you can get the bulbs is a Honda dealer.

SERVICE REQUIRED LIGHT IN ON IN 2002 HONDAY

Most modern cars have what are commonly called Service Lights. Small lights on the instrument panel can now alert drivers when it is time for service.

Most vehicles do this through a computer calculating how many miles have accumulated since the last service.

However, some vehicles use sensors to gather this data. We have compiled a listing on the procedures to reset the reminder lights on your car, if it is equipped.

If you do not see the reset procedure for your vehicle:Reference the owner's manual that came with your vehicle. Reset procedures are often described in depth with illustrations:

turn the key to the accesories position. pump the break pedal 3 times. the check engin light should flash. then turn the key to the off position and then start the car. the light should reset.

I am not sure if that works I have a 2004 Odysey and I did this and it worked.

While the car is off, push and _hold_ in your Trip meter button, then while still holding that button in... turn your ignition key to _On_ (not start). Wait until light goes out or you need a hair cut... which ever comes 1st. LOL, seriously it should go out in about 15 seconds or less

For a 2007 Honda Odyssey: Turn your ignition to the On position. Press and hold down the trip meter button for ~10 seconds (until the display blinks). Release the trip meter button. Press and hold the trip meter button a second time for ~5 seconds (until the display shows your oil at 100%).

    Hope helped.

On a 1995 honda odyssey there 's a green connector on pass side kick panel that is obd 1 now witch wires do i jump for codes ?

On 95–98 models, to access DTC memory using the MIL, the SCS 2 pin connector is located under the righthand side of the instrument panel. Place ignition switch in the On position to begin MIL flash code diagnosis.
Simply connect the two pins (a paper clip is most often used to do this) before you turn the switch on, then turn the switch to the ON position and your MIL will flash the codes.

This URL lists the codes for OBD I:
    http://www.troublecodes.net/honda/hondadtc.shtml

SOME 95 vehicles had the SCS on the left hand side of the Glove compartment, under the dash. Usually the connector was blue. See pic, although I don't think this applies to your vehicle.
