What engine is fitted? did you get a new timing belt adjuster. did you set it to new and not old. ecotec timing marks are on the cover and inside the cam cover. lower timing marks are on the pulley and on the crank. this should line up with the sump case marking on crank and the pin on the engine on the pulley. you need to rotoa the engine at lest 3 times to check the position of the time. also if you have had the cam sprockets off are they on the right ones as this would make timing out. both cameras are set different, there should be markings on the cmes to say inlet and exhaust. same on the cogs. when adjusting the time rotte engine by hand 3 times and if out on the timing and out of new adjust again until each time you rotate the engine it all lines up. adjustment is best done with the pull off. rota adjuster are anticlockwise to adjust dont do this clockwise, as it will move over time away from the stop pin and cause damage to the engine or timing adjuster.

SOURCE: Need to ajust timing belt .we changed water pump and my son took belt and pully off

Take out #1 cylinder spark plug. make sure the piston head is at the very top of cylinder by moving the crank pulley by hand. When the piston is at the top check the crank, cam and any other pulley for little notches, these are your timing marks. Now position all the marks the same way as the crank, make sure they don't move. put the belt on and there you go.

SOURCE: My Mitsubishi Endeavor (2005) has run 60000 miles.

Its a rule of the thumb that when ever you do a timing belt yopu also change

  1. the crankshaft seals
  2. cam seals
  3. water pump
  4. tensioner pulley(included in the timing kit)
It will just save from paying someone just to pull it apart and do it all over.To reach the timing belt/chain all these will have to be pulled apart so why not change it so it lasta you another 100k's

Yes indeed, the water pump is driven by the timing belt on this vehicle and you would be well advised to change it and the idlers while you are at it. You can get timing belt kits for this vehicle that include the belt, 2 idlers and the water pump. In the UK, the kit is priced at about £70

What are the steps to replace the water pump on 1996 lexus es300

Hi, you will need some special tool like : External torx (star)socket, pully and regular tool (# 10,12,14 etc..metric) to change the water pump. First, you need to clear the room for the job because such as Two belts -(alternator,air cond., pump ect and pully) need to disconnected and take out the plastic cover, tire e.t.c. There are about ten bolts. The water pump is inside the plastic cover which turns by the timing belt. I strongly recomment to change the timing belt at the same time ($30.00-timing belt- It last about 80000-90,000 miles). Remember to mark the timing gear carefully when you take the timing belt out. This will help you put the timing belt back in the right degree for the engine perform. Water pump can only replace after the timing belt is disconnected.
Take care

I have a high pitched noise which appears to be coming from front right engine compartment (as you are looking at the engine) which sounds kind of like a belt that is squealing. It is intermittent. Just...

Could be several things. WHICH ENGINE?.. 4 cylinder (has three belts, power steering/water pump, alternator & A/C compressor, one tensioner pully A/C compressor), The V6 2.7 (has only one belt, 1 Idler pully and 1 tensioner pully), the V6 3.5 has two belts - A/C/alternator, and power steering - there are two tensioner pullys). Noises can be caused by the belt(s) themselves, pullys, bearings, pully bearings, water pump shaft bearings (or belts/pullys rubbing up against something). Let's not forget that there is also belt(s) behind the Timing Belt cover as well as pullys and bearings associated with the timing system. You could start by removing one accy drive belt at a time (alternator, water pump, compressor, power steering, etc) to see whether or not the noise goes away in each case. If after each case, you discover the noise is still there, it's probably behind the timing belt cover (idler/tensioner pully, water pump shaft bearing, crankshaft bearing, etc.). Good Luck

How do I change the water pump on a '91 capri?

its pretty easy to do so all you have to do is remove both drive belts then unbolt the four bolts on the bottom pully. the double will then come off. remove the top and bottom timing covers in that order you will have to remove the water pump pully first. then mark your timing belt to ensure you get it back in time properly when reassembling. then loosen the timing belt tensenor pull timing belt off and let hang. then remove the water pump bolt then water pump. Install in reverse order. Make sure you clean the mating surface for the water pump.
