I discover that my touareg 2008 v6 only selects gear 3 but does not select gear any. what could be the possible cause. and i checked with computer

You will need to check the gear linkage hasits free movement and the gearbox mounting is secure. This happen on a Polo recently and the securing bolt to the gearbox mounting had fallen off leaving the gearbox hanging. I hope this helps you.

i would start with checking the spark plug cables in some cases if there is a bad wire it can cause a irratic or high idle being a 96 it is probably fuel injected so i would check the throttle cable and throttle body it may need some cleaning or a sensor may be off such as the idle control valve.
