my guess, is you removed them and didnt mark them?
the firing order?
what engine, there are 5.
to do this , one need to know 5 things.
2.5L, 2.8L, 4.0L and 5.2/5.9L engine displacements.
the distributor rotation direction CCW, or CW
and last the firing order, sometimes marked clearly on the intake manifold.
you must now where #1 cylinder is (always most front)
1989-98 2.5L Engine firing order: 1-3-4-2 Distributor rotation: Clockwise
2.8L Engine firing order: 1-2-3-4-5-6 Distributor rotation: Clockwise
4.0L Engine firing order: 1-5-3-6-2-4 Distributor rotation: Clockwise
5.2L and 5.9L Engine firing order: 1-8-4-3-6-5-7-2 Distributor rotation: Clockwise
on a v6/v8 one cylinder is more forward. this is #1, look carefully.
In the diagram below #1 plug wire is the all white dot on the distributor cap at the bottom 6 Oclock position (slightly to right), the firing order goes in the clockwise direction as the arrow indicates around the cap.
One of these firing order diagrams should help to assist you, (depending on either a V-8, or V-6 engine) and let me know if you require any further assistance.
991 Chevy S10 firing order
The firing order for a Chevy s10 depends on which engine you have.
1.9L engine the firing order is: 1-3-4-2 . Distributor rotates counterclockwise.
2.0L engine the firing order is: 1-3-4-2 . Distributor rotates clockwise.
2.5L engine the firing order is: 1-3-4-2 . Distributor rotates clockwise.
2.8L engine the firing order is: 1-2-3-4-5-6 . Distributor rotates clockwise.
4.3L engine the firing order is: 1-6-5-4-3-2 . Distributor rotates clockwise.
To avoid confusion, tag and remove the spark plug wires one at a time, for replacement. If a distributor is not keyed for installation with only one
orientation, it could have been removed previously and rewired. The
resultant wiring would hold the correct firing order, but could change
the relative placement of the plug towers in relation to the engine.
For this reason it is imperative that you label all wires before
disconnecting any of them. Also, before removal, compare the current
wiring with the accompanying illustrations. If the current wiring does
not match, make notes to reflect how your engine is wired.
Fig. 1: The firing order can usually be found cast onto the intake manifold
The firing order is 1-8-4-3-6-5-7-2.
The distributor rotates in a clockwise direction. The engine must be on the compression stroke on the #1 cylinder. Line up the timing marks. Remove the cap and the rotor should be pointing to approximately the 5 o'clock position.
