Main bearing bolts = 40 ft.lbs.
Connecting Rod Bearing Cap Nuts = 26 ft.lbs.

The rods are held to the crankshaft by and end cap with 2 very strong 10 mm bolts and nuts, these are made from really tough steel, what can make a rod fail, well a loose end cap will quickly destroy and often break a rod, over reeving the engine is the most common cause, also a burned out bearing, any thing that causes the rod to exceed it structural design specs will make it fail.

connecting rod = first pass 18 ft lbs , second pass 75 degrees
main bearings = first pass 37 ft lbs , second pass 77 degrees
wow that wasn't easy to find for some reason .

Hello vienotkelly: The correct Main bolt torque is 42 foot pounds. The connecting rods torque to 29 foot pounds. The torque sequence for the head bolts and the correct way to tighten the bolts are attached to this reply. Thak You for using FixYa. Roger
