Do you have an abs light on. The cruise control module is easy to locate. It has a cable going to the throttle body and most times runs right next to the cable front the gas pedal. It's a big block and guess it's about size a cell phone just a little thicker for the motor inside. It will be bolted to a plate or bracket and is easy to remove. Couple bolts and the cable. Might try a junkyard one.
Go to he brake light switch under dash on the brake pedal. This also controls the Overdrive. If it isn't going into overdrive, most likely the cruise control won't work either. When in overdrive and hit the brake pedal, overdrive is turned off also. If the switch is not making the OD connection, then it won't go into overdrive. Think on this my friend. It may just need adjusted if you've no brake light or the wires are disconnected at the light switch.
Your owners manual should show you where the fuses are located. If you don't have an owners manual, you can go to
my.gm.com, type in your year--make--model and hopefully read your owners manual for free.
Do the brake lamps work ok?
I found these fuses, not only check fuses, check for voltage on fuse circuit, use a test light. Some fuses are hot all the time, some go hot with the key on.
Any codes for the cruise system?
