SOURCE: side lights / tail lights / number plate lights
I would suspect the switch itself,or the wire from it ,as if it were a ground issue i do not expect it to effect the dash.You can usually check by the relay socket(on whatever lighting relay) on pin 1,whether you have 12v or not when you turn on the switch and a constant 12v on another,or fit a jumper lead from the constant 12v to the opposite side(4 pin relay)to test the circuit and operate the lights.

Hi, you have a bad earth connection either where it connects to the light unit or to the body, suggest you clean and refit at these points.

the boot switch works off the earth(power return to batt)check that the wires around the boot lid havent rub through and are causing it to earth.
