I have a 2004 volvo s40 with a trouble code ecm 4300 from my scanner but I need to convert this code to a P code that I understand

you need to pull the radio out and get the serial number off the radio and call the dealership

This is a common issue particularly with vehicles that have had some neglect to the oil change routine. The VVT solenoid on the top of the valve cover gets clogged with thickened or sludged oil.

Replace the VVT solenoid and gasket with a new unit and clear the codes.

After that it should ask for he code again. You have three tries before it locks again.
