700R4 transmission diagrams needed

I am facing the task of removing the valve body on the 700R4 in my 1992 Chevy G20 van, due to it still not wanting to up shift from low.

what I am wanting to find, is an exploded view of the valve body assembly, and any diagrams showing where any check balls may be located.

My 1992 chevy g20 van surges and i'm not sure exactly why. I changed the pcv valve, fuel filter, spark plugs, and air filter. What are some possibilities

My first thought would be a vacuum leak in one of the hoses. Rubber hoses get brittle with age and even a small crack in a hose may cause surging. Happened to me in a Lumina.

Have a 1992 chevy g20 van. the van has a tv/vcr

you'd have to find out what colored wire is behind the plugged in vcr wire theres gonna be a black n red , or black n yellow ( something like that) the black is ground ( frame/body Connected) the colored wire will usually be the powered side. , then follow that colored wire to the fuse box and relocate that powered side wire to connect to another wire , down at the fuse box that powers up with the key on. just connect it to the appropriate wire. stereo shops or car dealerships can fix that issue real quick. normally for a few dollars.

I have 700r4 trans. shifts from 1to2 but won't shift 2 to 3

Since it still moves in first and second, likely the end-play inside the transmission is enough to cause a shaft seal to bypass pressure. (internal thrust surfaces or washers worn). Being that old, it most likely is in need of a rebuild. If that's the first time you've needed to do trans work, you have gotten your moneys worth there!!

700R4 automatic transmission won't upshift

Check the TV cable, it may need to be adjusted or it may be binding and jammed. There could also be a problem with a broken governor gear since it's made of plastic, driver's side near the back of the main case under a round case. If it's is the governor gear replace it with the roll pin and filter just to make sure there are no broken parks that may have been caught by the filter. Good luck and hope this helps.
