Looks like compatibility issues... guess u'll need to diagnose more.. have u referred to a help book? If u don't have it get one from google or find one from big-manuals com

SOURCE: need torque settings for 1985 4A corolla cylinder head
hey, torque must be done in 3 steps:
1st 22 ft lbs
2nd 43 ft lbs
final 47 ft lbs
use this sequence of tightening:
9 - 3 -1 -6 -8
7 - 5 - 2 -4 - 10

From front to back is this:
7 3 1 5 9
8 4 2 6 10
First torque value is 58 ft lbs.....then final torgue is 72 ft lbs.

cylinder head
stage 1: 40Nm
stage 2: 60° - 75°
stage 3: 60 - 75°

head torque is in 3 parts....
stage1....... 20nm
stage2........40nm
and stage3 .......49 to 59 nm so anywher in middle
valve clearance inlet 0.25mm hot
and outlet 0.33mm hot
