I have a 02 vw new beetle 1.8 check engine light came, hesitant , read the codes it had P0171 and error code P3211. I cleared them then car died and will not start help

I noticed when trying to start it the rpm Gage and gas Gage do not move.

Error P0171 is System too lean, bank 1. Your engine is being starved of fuel. Could be anything from a clogged fuel line to a faulty injector. You must have mistyped the second code as it doesn't exist.

The most common problem on a Ford with these codes is deteriorated PCV hoses. Check the hoses from the PCV valve to the intake manifold. Pay special attention to the rubber elbows. They often crack on the inside curve and the crack is hard to see.

hi there, you see todays cars are so emmision friendly that not even the vapors from your tank can be released into the atmosphere so what they have done is all your vapors are put into a charcoal canister to absorb the vapors and the next time you start the car it has a purge solenoid open and burn the vapors off. if you look around the intake youll see a hose with a green cap follow it back to the charcoal canister and while your doing that just check the hoses and the hoses around the canister to make sure there is no holes or cracks in them and then follow the hose from the canister to the gas tank. if every thing looks good then i would replace the purge solenoid.

I have had numerous problems with my 01 Corolla. Yikes! You need to understand that Toyota will not submitt to universal parts. You must use their parts. Especially on the Cat Converter. Further, don't EVER go to Meineke for repairs if you haven't already. I use www.partstrain.com to get my authentic parts. They are truly the bomb on pricing.

I had the p171 and p420 codes. I replaced the mass air flow sensor, cat converter, and put on new iridium spark plugs.

PO 171 indicates a lean condition in bank 1 or the same side of the engine as the first cylinder , usually it is caused by a vacuum leak some where check to make sure that even the smallest of vacuum hoses are in good condition and not leaking

The problem is the seatbelt latch. The wiring right at the latch and the strap are broken. Seems there is not enough slack in these wires to allow much stretch. You may be able to repair it if you can splice these wires back together if not about 160 to 170 for a new one. you can have it put on a machine and if the code leads back to the latch then you know this is the problem.

How do i manual reset vw beetle check engine light

disconnect the battery and let it sit for about 30 minutes then reconnect. that should clear the codes. or get an ODBII code reader (about $40 ) and push the clear button. that's the easiest and you can read the codes too.

P0171 is LEAN and P0303 is misfire number 3 cyl. Its time to stop guessing and pay for a correct diagnosis. Find a shop that works on VW and has the tools to work on it. DO NOT put those Bosch Platinum Spark plugs in that Ottozone tries to sell everybody.

Manual can not tell you the problem relaited to check engine light . I mean point the problem . You have to use scaner to retreive the code from ECU and go from there. You could save a lot of money by retreiving code from ECU in the first place , instead of doing guesswork.

Check engine light on a 2001 Toyota Corolla

No need to replace the MAF. If it was bad, the check engine light would have come right back on as soon as you started the engine. The MAF not only measures the air going into the engine, but also measures the air temperature. Those 2 circuits are constantly sending info the the ECU. If either would fail, the ECU would light the check engine light. P0171 is a common code for incorrect readings (dirty) in the MAF. Cleaning it always helps, and cuts off the light. Your acceleration problem may be either a wrong Air-Fuel sensor (the one before the cat), or an "aftermarket" AF sensor. "Aftermarket" AF sensors have been shown to not work properly in Toyota vehicles. Hope this helps
