Blue smoke is often the result of bad rings on the pistons. Engine rebuild time. It is possible that the turbo is leaking oil into your engine.

SOURCE: Smoke from exhaust when decelerating on Ford F-350 Powerstroke

Either valve stem seals are leaking or the turbo oil seal is leaking.

SOURCE: Oil Leaking into the exhaust

hi there, there are chemicals on the market that will soften up the seals but these take time to work i would suggest changing the turbo, you will also have to remove the oil from the exhaust system this can be done with other chemicals like an upper cylinder cleaner feed directly in to the air intake but only after the turbo has be fixed

SOURCE: Oil in the turbo, smoking bad!

check to make sure the turbo oil return pipe is not clogged. if it is pressure will build up causing oil leak through seal causing it to smoke.

SOURCE: engine burning oil no oil leak little smoke

oil leaks are hard to identify by the blue smoke that you used to see. most of this smoke is burned up by the catalytic converter. at least until all of that oil plugs the converter up. you can tell if your burning oil by removing the spark plugs, and checking their appearance against diagnostic charts redily available on the internet. oil burning will leave a distinctive residue.

White smoke from vw bora

if it does it all the time, could be antifreeze being burned off from a leak into the engine. this would need to be seen by a mechanic. unless it is just when you first start it on a cold or cool day and stops after the engine warms up. thats normal condensation burning off the pipes -
rule of thumb with smoke. bluish color means burning oil, black smoke - fuel exchange is off and is not combusting correctly, white antifreeze.

White smoke coming out of tail pipe.

WHITE smoke? Or BLUE smoke? White smoke is usually caused by burning antifreeze (possible blown head gasket). Engine oil burning causes a bluish colored smoke.

Changing the oil two months ago means absolutely nothing to me. I have customers that travel 6000 miles or more in a month. Oil consumption is measured in volume over miles, not volume over months. It is normal for most 4 cylinder engines to use a little less than 1/2 quart in 1000 miles (even more than that for 6 cylinder and 8 cylinder engines).

My car oil goes down and smoke from exhaust

It's burning a lot of oil. You'll have to have the engine overhauled to fix it. Did it just start smoking and losing oil? Might be a broken oil ring. It is a bluish smoke out the exhaust? That's a sure sign of oil burning.

Smokes really bad at the beginning, but after you drive the car for 15 min or so it almost stops. What could that be?

Hi :) What is happening? you say Well when you shut the engine down the oil is hot and it runs by the valve stems because the stem guides are warren out and sits on the piston till you start the engine next time. It take a bit to burn it off then it burns clean till the next time you stop running the engine for any lenght of time.Take it in to the shop and have new valve guides put in it or unbrella seals put on under the valve spring this will stop the oil from leaking past the valve stems. I put a cup of transmission oil/Fluid/Dexron2/3 every time i change my oil to keep my valve seals soft and rubbery and it helps

My car is blowing smoke and shuddering ef falcon

What color is the smoke ? is it bluish or is it white ?
The blue colored smoke would smell more like burning oil, which would indicate a broken piston ring, ect. the white smoke if it smells of coolant(anti-freeze) would lean toward a head gasket problem.

Hello , We have a 2002 highlander and it smokes periodically when it's started and uses oil . Then it will stop smoking and using oil for a couple of weeks and then start again for a week or two .It seems...

It sounds like classic valve seal failure to me. When parked and cooled off the bad seal (s) allow oil to leak past the seal and into the combustion chamber (s). After the engine is run it burnes off the oil until it parked again. This also happens to many engines that have been in storage allowing the seals to dry out.

My 99 volvo xc is blowing thick white, bluish

This is not good. White smoke is usually coolant, but the deposits on the plugs indicates oil related issue. Major exploritory surgery is in your future.

Start with a leak down test, and based on the results of that, your next step will be more clear.

Sorry for the bad news, but you already knew that, with the smoke report.
