The first thing to do is to check things like the trunk/boot light is not staying on then if you are a technical then use a multimeter on amps setting in series with a disconnected battery terminal neg is best. then start to remove fuses from the fuse boxes one at a time until you find the current drain the drain should only be a few milliamps ie,100 or less not then you have a clue to the problem area make sure all doors are latched before you test

SOURCE: 2003 Nissan altima alternator

The alternator is right on top of the 2.5L motor and held on by 2 14mm bolts. To remove the lower bolt (hard to reach), you must remove the coolant bottle and the IPDM fuse board and its metal box/bracket. A breaker bar really helped give enough torque to loosen the bolts. Approach the drive belt from under the front passenger tire. There is a tension adjuster (hard to reach) bolt that loosens the belt and allows you to remove it from the alternator.

2003 nissan altima 2.5L 4 CYL would'nt w'out jump.replaced battery and car was fine for two days. On day 3 , after car was sitting for 15 hrs dead again!garage cant find whats drawing when car is off

Do you see a brake light on while driving? That could be a bad alternator.

Ask your garage to perform a parasitic draw test - you could do this with a multimeter, as well; it sounds like something is draining your battery while off - it could be any fuse and not obvious like with lights on/etc.

I would 95% positively guess this is the issue due to time frame. If the garage doesn't know what this is, take her somewhere that does. Shouldn't be costly, either.

Hi. My 2000 Nissan Altima, started giving me problems yesterday. I tried turning the key, and wouldn't pull over. All the lights lit up on the dashboard, along with my headlights coming on. So I know it is...

Dash and headlights don't draw as much power as a starter, so simply having that doesn't mean the battery has enough power to turn the starter over.

However, I would say that if you want to pinpoint the problem quickly, take the car to Sears, Walmart, or your local auto parts store like Autozone or Advance Auto and have them test the starting/charging system for free or a nominal fee depending on your area.

The starting/charging tester can determine if the battery is faulty, or if the starter is faulty, or if it's a wiring problem in between.

Good luck on this diagnosis.

New battery, new alternator, new starter. Battery

Something is draining the battery most likly a short somewhere in the electrical system. You will need to have it looked at by the garage to find the short A temporary or cheaper solution may be to disconnect the battery when not using the car. You can either fit a switch inside the car or physically disconnect it at the battery.

Battery is not holding a charge on my 2003 Nissan Altima.

You might have a parasitic drain on your battery. Meaning something isn't shutting off like it should be draining your battery. Your positive battery cable might be shorted to ground not allowing power to flow.
