Where is the fuel regulator located at on a malibu with 2.2 ecotech engine

The 2014 Chevrolet Malibu with the L4-2.5L engine does not have a 'typical' fuel pressure regulator. This vehicle has a fuel regulator valve (same function, just 'smarter' than a regulator). The pressure relief regulator valve replaces the typical fuel pressure regulator used on a mechanical returnless fuel system. Output drivers in the ECM provide the pump control circuit with a 12?V pulse-width modulated (PWM) signal, which regulates fuel pressure by closing and opening the control valve at specific times during pump strokes. On this vehicle, the regulator valve is built into and part of the high-pressure fuel pump. The high-pressure fuel pump is located on the rear, driver's side of the engine. theres no valve its just a hose between the air intake duct and the valve cover [passenger side front top of valve cover ]

Is it a crank, but no start? If yes, spray starting fluid into air intake. If it fires then dies, then, it is fuel problem. If it doesn't fire it is spark problem.

The best way to know that is to call a GM dealer with the vin numbers of the 2 cars, they will be able to tell you if it's the same engine. Or if it's a bolt on swap.

What is 3.4.

I ASSUME that this has the 2.4L ecotech 4 cylinder engine?? If so the vct solenoids (variable cam timing) are mounted between the intake and exhaust cams through holes in the valve cover near the timing chain end of the engine (front). The exhaust vct solenoid will be on the exhaust side of the cylinder head.

Hello pass.... The fuel pump is in the gas tank. The malibu does not have any fuel filters it only has a strainer on the fuel pump itself. You will have to drop the gas tank to get to the fuel pump.
The Malibu Classic (8th letter of VIN is "F") with the 2.2 Ecotech 4-cylinder engine has a fuel filter between the fuel tank and the rear axle. One end of the filter has a threaded connector and the other is a typical compression style. Regarding the antitheft system, if that is the problem I recommend that you contact an autoelectric repair shop and get them involved as they have the diagnostic tools and the wiring diagrams to get to the bottom of these complex devices. please explain in plain queens english as to what this valve is or what it does please ,never heard of this before,is it measuring the amount of evaporation of fuel in the inlet manifold?? the evaporation of the fuel in the tank ??
