2000 nissan maxima, pass Connecticut Emissions test

I need to pass Conneticut emissions testing with my 2000 Nissan Maxima SE. The service engine soon light is on. Apparently this is a notorious problem with the Maxima. The code was indicating it was the O2 sensor, I had that fixed and the light is still coming on. I have no problem driving with it on, but I need to pass emissions and I do not wanna pay for a catalytic converter as the car is aging and has over 150k miles on it. How do I pass the test without getting too costly?

Catalytic converter is the way to fix your problem because they do an emissions test and the code want go away even if you get the light off before you take it in they will no the computer has just been reset so which means all the sensors want have enough info to give the computer because of being reset sorry to break it to you.

If i clear my check engine light and go take my emission test will i pass

Depends on why the light was turned on. If it was a problem with an emissions component, the problem may still exist.

The service engine soon light of nissan maxima 1998

The warning light is on because the computer found a problem that will affect engine performance and emissions.
You would need to get the computer scanned for trouble codes to proceed. Most auto parts stores will scan for free.

Failed hc emissions test current reading 1310 on hi speed emissions.

without ALL the emission stats I can only guess but most likely cause would be leaking injector or defective fuel pressure regulator

97 Nissan Maxima

360 hassle - since you have a check-engine light on, and your car is an OBD2 car (96 or newer), go to AutoZone and have the ECU scanned (it's free). They'll give you the fault code(s), which you can post up here, and we can diagnose it then.
