89 Camaro RS starting issues post starter and battery fix

I've just replaced the starter in my 89 Camaro RS the battery has been re-charged but I can't seem to keep her running. Also most of the instruments on the dash (tac, rmp etc) have suddenly stopped reading. . . . any ideas?

ok I plan to circuit test all connections tonight, and hopefully I can check codes tonight as well. though I am in a more rural area do you know of anywhere online that I can find a listing of the dash-flash codes and their meanings? I don't even have a manuel for this car so i'm flying a little more blind than usual

I would try checking my ground cables.try looking up the codes.this can be done for free at the local autozone or someplace like them.
i would also check the alternator/voltage regulator and there grounds.

Help I'm confused as heck I have a 89 v6 Camaro it

You can get the battery tested at Autozone,Advance, and Oreilys for free. Later, once you find out if the battery is alright, and if you can get the car started, drive back to one of the stores and get the starter tested on the car. Or you can pull the starter and take it along with the battery and have both benchchecked.

You could have timing issues in the Camaro which would make it hard to turn over. But the v-8 Dodge usually has a gear system in their starters that increases the Torque in the starter drive. This feature can account for the ease of starting the Dodge with the Camaro battery.

Also check your starter Relay in the Camaro. You may be losing Voltage before the juice reaches the starter with a fried Relay.

Hope my solution helps.

96' RS Camaro was running fine when I stopped, got in tried to start and nothing. Its getting power but it wont turn over.

Check the battery posts for corrosion. You can pour Coke on it while using a wire brush to clean the cables.
If this isn't the issue, then it is most likely your starter. Your starter is located on you passenger side right next to your header. Tap on it with a hammer while having someone simultaneously try and start the car. If this works then you will need to replace your starter in the near future.

Transmission for an 89' Camaro Rs ?

Definitely you can save by buying used. Check for local auto dismantlers in your area. Be sure to ask them what kind of mileage the car had on it when they pulled the tranny. Also replace filter and pan gasket while it's out.

92 RS Camaro, Replaced battery and now car has no power?

are your battery post bolts clean and tight, my 89 rs ran fine untill i decided i wanted shiny new battery bolts, when i put them in and tightened them down my car had no power at all, i checked how tight they were, and they were TIGHT so i wiggled the black cable and re tightened it and bam my lights turned on, tryied starting it, and it started, sometimes you just gotta make sure the connection is really good, not just how tight it is, also check your ground wires, there are a few but the main 2 are located at the front pass side next to the batt, and on the back firewall going from the bottom pass head to the firewall, hope that helps, if not comment back
