Nissan altima will not start, it will crank but not start. I repositioned the coil wire and it started but when i turned it off it would not start again. I replaced the cracked cap and worn rotor and also the plugs and wires. after i did that it started but when i turned it off it would not start again. it is getting plenty of spark and it has fuel.
OK...Some cars use a "prime" relay and a "run" relay on the fuel pump. since manually priming it seems to work, I'd check and see if you have a similar system. If so, the prime relay may be bad.
Well, I wouldn't pay attention to dealer suggestions crank and cam sensors don't make fuel pump go on but if its running (pump) but nothing is getting to injectors then it may be related. sensor triggers pulses. I can fix this stuff when it's in front of me but don't know the system well enough to give any better advise. If pump isn't coming on though, check relay and power to pump circuit.
Your fuel pump may not be pumping hard enough to the engine so thats why when u prime it your self it starts then while its running the fuel pump works at a slower pace so it stays running so try replacing the fuel pump, i hope this can help u out

I have checked all the wires in that area with a multimeter and they all have good connections. The dealer says to check the crankshaft and camshaft sensor, but i have spark at the plugs for all four cylinders. that only leaves on problem. I think that the fuel pump doesn't have enough pressure. the car sat overnight and that may be the reason it started. the fuel pump had enough time to pressurize. I will go and check it in 30 minutes to see if that might be it.
before there was fuel and when it starts it will run just fine but now i get no fuel. I just tried it again and i have spark but no fuel.
I sprayed starting fluid into throttle body and the car started right up and ran fine but it will not start unless I do this every time.
Sitting overnight, the pump would not pressurize, if anything, it would loose pressure. You can easily separate fuel from ignition problem by squirting carb cleaner int throttle body if it starts then no fuel is getting into the engine, but spark is there. Seems odd that your post says that you have spark and fuel......but it's not lighting??? Something has got to be missing when in no-start.
It seems that while you are working in the vicinity of the distributor and coil, you may be inadvertently touching a loose wire. Check every wire and connection carefully for looseness, corrosion and cracks that would indicate a possible break in a hardened wire.
