My 2005 volvo xc90 2.5t ran out of fuel , added fuel and tried to start it again , after a few times it started but switched off again after a few seconds ..

The fuel pump relay is often the problem.
It's the one on the right of the two, above the fuses, behind the ashtray.
It's a VERY common fault.
But cheap to fix:)

Same problem. It runs worse with the air conditioning running, still doesn't fix it though. Also, Volvo will tell you the transmission is "sealed" but if you take it to a transmission place they can clean it out.

Before you replace the fuel pump, I would check the cheaiper parts first. Such as fuel filter and injectors.
