SOURCE: I have a 1999 oldsmobile

fuel pressure regulator on the fuel rail is probably it or the egr valve is stuck open allowing burnt fuel to flood the intake, im leaning towards the fuel pressure regulator because the o2sensor is probably reading rich or if its reading lean then i would choose the egr valve . good luck

SOURCE: mass air flow sensor

maf sensors identify the amount of air flow flowing in the intake. the sensor works with the throttle so it knows how much air is coming in to add the proper amount of fuel to mix with the air. Easy to pull and replace.

SOURCE: 000 NISSAN Xterra -- after warming up, loses RPM by 500-1000..... have replaced ignition wires and distributor, checked mass air flow sensor and OK.....

I had a problem on my Nissan Xterra 2000. Symptons sound similar. In my case, it ran fine for a while and then suddenly the engine starts to stumble and lose output. At one point it did not even have enough HP to move. Irregular idling too. Thought it was water in my fuel. Bought water remover from the store and added to gas tank. Problem did not go away. Instead, "Service Engine Soon" light came on. Had to have it towed to the dealer as there was no way the engine could keep up with traffic. Dealer replaced the "Crank Position Sensor" today. Parts $33.00, Labor: $300 (about 3 hrs worth of work). Seems to work fine now but I will wait and see. Dealer also stated that Distributor bearing appears to be noisy and will need to be replaced sooner or later. I will wait for it to go before I fix that.

SOURCE: mass air flow sensor

The mass airflow sensor is very important...it uses tiny diodes mounted in the flow path of the incoming air to the throttle body in units called CFM. It sends that information to the engine computer and the program calculates the proper amount of fuel needed to mix with the volume of air coming in. It is vital to your car that this sensor is properly maintained. If it's diodes are allowed to get dirty such as by having a dirty air filter, then the readings it takes will be inaccurate and the cars' performance will suffer. If the diodes break, you will not be able to drive the car and a new sensor is expensive.
DO NOT buy into snake-oil products like MAF cleaner...it is an expensive gimmick plus spraying anything under pressure into the sensor can break the diode filaments, some of them are barely .010" thick. Just remove the sensor with the proper bit and carefully poor a stream of isopropyl alcohol (isohol, rubbing alcohol) over the diodes until they shine. Then rinse with water and let air dry.

94 Nissan Sentr has a miss problem. Sputters at an even speed, but ok when accelerating. Have had the following replaced, but did not fix the miss. Plugs & wires, cap & rotor, 4 fuel injectors,...

Have you checked for vacuum leaks? Also the Air Mass Sensor can create the symptom described. It has what is called a hot wire air mass sensor. When air flows through a route around the hot wire, the heat generated from the hot wire is taken away by the air. The amount of heat depends on the air flow. On the other hand, the temperature is automatically controlled to a certain number of degrees. Therefore, it is necessary to supply the hot wire with more electric current in order to maintain the temperature of the hot wire. The ECM knows the air flow by means of the electric change. WHOOSH! Get that? A vacuum leak can cause the problem. A problem with the air mass sensor would be a likely suspect. Check for solid grounds. DO NOT THROW PARTS AT IT!

Poor idle, power loss off idle then takes off if you give it more throttle like a quarter more pedal, engine code says bank 2 is to lean

You need a new MAF (mass air flow sensor or air flow meter as its called). and you will also need a new air filter, since you most likely used aftermarket one and that's what killed that MAF sensor/meter. Aftermarket air filters dont sit right in the box and are not oil soaked, which helps to catch any debris and dirt coming into your engine. Replace you air filter with Nissan filter and install a new MAF/air flow meter. If your air box is dirty, clean that out too. MAF sensor will run you about $500 and the air filter about $17. Common problem on a Sentra if you are not using Nissan air filter.
