SOURCE: 2006 Toyota Corolla w/VVT-I 16 valve with 66K

hi, i know you say the belts seem good but one way to rule the fan belt or alternater belt out is to pour water onto the belt and if the noise stops then the chances are the belt needs tightening.
If how ever you still have the noise then this would point towards one of the pulleys bearings running dry you can try putting oil into where the bearing is its difficult to get the oil in their as their is very little gap so using a spray oil would be your best option.

If after doing this you still have the noise then your going to have to replace the pulley thats giving you the noise to find out witch pulley it is spray each one in turn with spray lube and see witch one makes the noise less and then this is the one that needs replacing.

Your power steering pump can give you the noise your getting if the fluid is to low so make sure you check all the levels ok.

Let me know how you get on or if you need further assistance ok

SOURCE: 2001 toyota avalon engine and vsc light stays on

You have to use a scanner and pull the code out that is causing the check engine light to come on. whatever code/codes you find are probably related to vsc light.
Good luck and keep me posted

2001 Toyota Avalon with the V6 3000 four cam 24 VVT-i. The main pulley going in and out with the motor running and making rubber burning smell

Question edited for clarity.
Question moved from MISC to model category

That is called 'end float' and shouldn't happen. It needs removing to find out why. Some have a rubber bushing.

How do I fix trouble code p1354 on a 2000 Toyota avalon?

P1354 Toyota Description
Variable Valve Timing (VVT) system controls the intake valve timing to proper timing in response to driving condition. The Engine Control Module (ECM) controls Oil Control Valve (OCV) to make the intake valve timing properly, and, oil pressure controlled with OCV is supplied to the VVT controller, and then, VVT controller changes relative position between the camshaft and the crankshaft.

Does the 2007 Prius 1.5 L have an interference engine?

this yours? the real name? Great question, I dont know.
the NON X engine IS !

gasoline (1.5L, VIN B, 5th digit, 1NZFXE engine)

That X means:
making it a simulated Atkinson cycle, engine. not OTTO.

with a very unique cam timing and high compression. 13:1

the engine is cam chain driven.
so if you dont let the chain scream ,what's the worry.?

on many High CR engines, the piston chases the exhaust valves
closed very very close, so close the engine is interference.
i find nothing on the web to say if X , is or not.
also what about VVT.?
what if it failed, in the wrong spot, owner ignore DTCs
and the chain screaming. then what? (nobody knows, it seems)

id love to do the check by hand, but not many motors sitting about to do that.
the non X engines FSM warns that there are interference issues.
so does the X get that same warning, ?
if worred buy the FSM.... and tell the world. as its not on the web.
check out the wild cam, timing and even wilder, VVT timing ranges...
wow.
http://www.mr2.com/files/mr2/techinfo/Random%20FSM%20Data/1nzfxe.pdf

Chain off, spark plugs out.
if the chain snaps
there is no VVT with no chain.
so the hand check method works
valves at max open. (watch the lifters)
now:
spin crank, no chain 360 degrees.
does it hit? felt by hand?, the non X does.
repeat for each side, intake exhaust.

i spin crank not cam to feel it, as cranks is smoother.
some engines btw are SO close they only hit hot and at high RPM.
a good spec, for this is 0.040" valve to piston clearance at all times.
at normal temps and presssures and RPM.

Have a 2001 toyota avalon xls. P1354 manufacturer's control code comes up--engine light is on. Does this have to do with oil pressure??

P1354 is VVT system malfunction bank 2. VVT it Variable Valve Timing. Your ECM controls 2 OCVs (Oil Control Valves) which corrects engine valve timeing for driving conditions. there is a possibility that a pice of debrise has plugged the oil passage in the Bank 2 OCV. If you do not maintain good oil health ( changing your oil and oil filter regularly ) oil will sludge and harden in areas. a pice of this can become dislodged and travel through your oil system and cause a blockage in the system. Other possibilities are, Faulty wireing to the OCV, Faulty OCV, or Faulty ECM

Concern with the timing belt 1997 toyota avalon xls

The maintenance interval is 60,000 miles, but they usally last quite a bit longer before they fail.
This is a non-interference motor , meaning the valves will not hit the pistons if the belt brakes.

2001 toyota avalon timing belt out of adjustment

This is not simple and requires a technician with the proper knowledge. Modern engines are non interference which means with the timing improperly set you can severly damage the engine. If the engine has not been damged already I would have the vehicle towed to someone who could repair it. Odds are if the timing is off and the engine wont crank the head has already been damaged.
