Most trunk locks have a holding mechanism at the bottom edge of the trunk lid. Open lid, look at bottom edge. If you see a plate held in with two screws, remove screws, pry plate down to release lock cylinder.
check the positive wire coming off the battery, It should split into two branches, one goes to the starter and the other runs nearly everything else. Mine was corroded and I fixed it with a kit from Autozone.
I would think not correct. GM vehicles of that era were equipped with R.A.P(Random Auxiliary Power) it would keep certain systems on after shutting the car off.....(lights, radio, power windows) for up to 8 minutes. Unless you open the door, that would shut everything down. So if your power is staying on with doors open, most likely one or both of the relays in the RAP is bad
coulb be the control switch on your panel you can take the door panel off and check for loose connections and try to test for continuity. if you dont know how take it to a shop and have them diagnose the electrical. im quite sure it the switch that burnt out
The first thing to do would be to hook up a factory or professional type scan tool an check for DTC'S - diagnostic trouble code's . This vehicle has very complex electronic's. Serial data communication network,class2 data bus . There are electronic modules inside the door's that control the lock's ,power window's , power mirror's . Your best bet ,take it to a qualified repair shop . Not a fuse problem , driver an passenger door module each have thier own power supply. Two circuit breakers ,PWR/WDO circuit breaker 30 amp. You could check DRVMDL 10amp fuse ,located in the rear fuse box , PASSMDL 10amp fuse rear fuse box , RRDR/MDL 10 amp fuse rear fuse box . Rear fuse box is under the back seat . None of the window's , lock's etc.. work from any door switch ?
Follow the wiring from between the door and the body to the insides under the dashboard. It's usually inside a soft plastic or rubber tube for protection. Follow the wire bundle if you can to the fuse panel. I don't know exactly where it is on this car, but it's usually very close to the left and underneath of the dashboard. You may find that a plug that has all these wires together has come loose somewhere.
