I have a 2002 mitsubishi lancer 2.0 auto and alt is putting out 15.4 un loaded at 3k , loaded is at 15v , idle unloaded 14.7

Car belongs to a friend of mine and had 3 alternators in the back seat when he dropped it off so I knew it was more than an alt issue .I had a pcm from one that he wrecked a few years back so i did swap it in with no change so its back to original pcm car runs fine no light on with this alt but i swapped one of the others in to see if they were bad , voltages were the same but batt and brake light was on dash. i took all 4 units to advance auto and the all checked ok and all maxed at 14.9 which was less than what im getting in car , reinstalled and here i am

not sure. Follow the white wire from the alternator.

It's the only thing in the circuit you haven't replaced. Try cutting the white wire. 15.4vdc is actually ok as long as everything works.

Ok, I guess that's a good thing. Solder it back together. It's hard to know what the pcm is telling it to do. Since you have tried another pcm, I don't see that as the problem. If everything is working, I would leave it. Otherwise, I would ohm the two wores that go to the pcm. Maybe one has too much resistance. If they are good, the last resort is to modify the design by adding a resistor to the charge wire as it leaves the alternator., and that just seems weird.

Should be too small to measure. Less than one ohm. What kind of meter are you using?

I think you can use external regulator, but the computer will throw a code. What symptoms do you have other than the alt light?

Do you mean that the fan does not work on 1,2,3? If so, there's a resistor network (in the switch assembly I think in the 2002) that has failed.

You'll need to remove the fan switch assembly to inspect this. If its broken, locate a replacement at a wrecker.

If the fan does work on all settings, then there's an issue with the AC system, probably low refrigerant level. You may be able to get the system repressurized if the leak is not too severe.

The car slows downs and has stopped when i turn the airconditioner on

Possible that the engine needs a full retuning of the fuel and Ignition timing with a check on the auto RPM advance when the AC is turned on.
If it possible that when the AC load comes on to the engine the IDLING speed is not changed and so it flutters to stop. The auto advance- vacuum - mut be checked.

Volt gage drops when not accelerating, replaced battery and altenator, its running worse now

What are the voltage readings?
Voltage may drop when idling and a larger voltage drop can be present when a large load (amp draw)is present on the alt.
A low charged battery is a large load.
Operating accessories is a large load.
A slow spinning (idling) alt will not put out it's max output.
This would be normal.

We like to see.....above 12.7V at idle....max 15V.......
.......and a min of 13.5V to a max of 15V at higher engine speed.
If you are with-in this.......don't worry about it.

2002 Mitsubishi Lancer Oil Light at Low RPMS.

I had the same exact problem over the weekend. We decided to go cheap first and replace the Oil Pressure Switch. It's like $6.00 at Auto Zone here in Texas. (don't know if you are from the states). It ended up being the switch. It's located right by the oil filter and it's very easy to change. Just make sure you have a wrench or deep socket bigger than 15/16. I think we used a 1 inch wrench.

If it's not the switch, its most likely the oil pump, but don't forget to check the hose, it could be bent or crimped.

Hope this helps :D

Where do i put the transmission fluid on a 2002 lancer es

you can't put the transmission fluid in yourself on an auto or manual transmission for a 2002 lancer es. It has to be injected into the transmission through a nipple that is on the transmission.
