SOURCE: 2005 Aveo; hold light blinking, check engine light
Try a toon-up..
Or might be a sensor.. There are several..
Trying to figure these things out is a process of elimination.. Unless looked at by a shop..
Hope this helps !!
rate me good ;o)

check tps sensor (throttle position sensor in backside of the throttle cable) and map sensor (manifold absolute pressure on front little 1 inch sensor with vacuum line) make sure there plugged in. the ecm (engine control module driver side inner fender) and tcm (transmission control module under dash) both need the data to know when to upshift and increase fuel/air. Otherwise the computer runs default values and guesses off of other sensors giving poor performance. also disconnect battery for 15 min. usually resets aveo service lights if you dont have a scanner.

Sometimes particular clutch packs can fail and the computer won't set a code. The only time a code can be set is if a sensor actually "sees" a problem. Possibly in this case, the clutch pack can fail but the proper line pressures are still right because the front pump is supplying proper pressure and the servos are applying the clutches. Probably the cheapest way to determine your problem would be to drop the transmission pan and carefully catch the fluid in a container. Then, check the fluid and the inside of the transmission pan for clutch debris. This sounds like an amateur way to do it but if it were in my shop, that would be my first step in diagnosing the problem. Good luck!

their two wires two the light please test them with a test light the black one should be the ground .remove the bulb test the power side to the negative battery post . then test the ground side to the positive of the battery. you should get a good test light on both . then plug the bulb back in put tester on the ground side of the bulb receptacle and clamp the tester to the negative post of the battery if you get the tester flashing the ground is poor and will need to be cleaned you can trace the wire to its ground point take off the bolt and sand it with sand paper.
