That's just fine your alternator keeps your battery around the same volts after you start your car.
14v is normal for charging. 12v systems are actually 13.6v systems or close. Your alternator charges at 14v and there are no problems

Check all earth connections possible loose connection
You have it set on automatic or manual .. If it is set for automatic the charger will cycle on and off so the battery does not charge too much. If it is manual when battery reaches charged voltage, it is time to disconnect.

could be just a bad gauge,thak it too auto zone and have them test it while its on the truck,if it reg the same on their tester then your got a short
