Car worked perfectly before this incident. It is a 2000 Kia Sportage 2 wheel drive with Automatic Transmission. I had to tow the vehicle across the state, not because there was something wrong with it, I was just moving and had to tow the Sportage on a car dolly. The front wheels were on the dolly and the rear wheels were on the ground. I put the tranny in neutral and towed it across the state. When I arrived and tried to back it off the dolly, it would not go into reverse. I have checked the fluid level and it is OK. The car drives just the same as before in drive, just will not go into reverse. It acts like it tries, you can sort of feel it trying, but it will not go or pull itself in reverse.
YOU'VE burnt the transmission up. 2 wheel drives are required for the drive train be off the ground when towing.. drive shaft removed when towing from front OK as long as driveshafts removed. when towing with rear wheels on the ground and drive shaft still installed will burn the transmission pump out.;you will need another transmission,or sometimes a new transmission pump will repair it,although it will still show the additional mile that the vehicle was towed . thank you for choosing fixya.com
The transmission is gone, it might of **** pass neutral and tough the reverse gear
