Why is battery light still on after replacing alternator

charge lights work from a current flow either from the battery to the alternator or from the alternator to the battery. the opposing current flows will put the light out when each unit has the same voltage . So if the light is still on after the alternator has been replaced there are 2 checks to do . Check that the alternator is in fact charging correctly (dc voltage as well as 14 volts and next check is to see if the battery is any good and that the terminals are clean and tight. Best have it checked out at an accredited auto electrical shop.

Is replacing an alternator belt the same as replacing the alternator

Well the alternator is driven by a belt. You should be able to look at the alternator and tell if it has been replaced by how clean it is.

How to test alternator is dead or not working? How to replace the alternator (step by step instruction) Is a rebuilt alternator good or do I need a brand new alternator (is all alternators sold are rebuilt...

you take the vehicle to an accredited auto electrician and have them check the charge circuit and battery
could be the alternator or voltage regulator or problem battery
have them check the drive belt condition and tension
if the units have been rebuilt by reputable electrical company, they are a cheaper alternative to brand new and should have a 6 months or 12 month warranty with them
