Check fuses first..One could be blown out...You can swap fuses with the same number and color. If the chime starts working you'll know which ones bad

Testimonial: "Thank you for your suggestion. I will check the fuse box. Hope it's a simple fix! Appreciate your quick response."

SOURCE: 1999 Saturn SL 2, The chime that indicates that

This is a common problem with the older saturns. The issue is in the key cylinder for the ignition. The way to fix it involves replacing the key cylinder, which in those cars is a total pain. It requires dismantling the steering column, drilling our the old lock, and replacing it with a new one. Problem is, it has to come from Saturn. There used to be a kit available from the dealer for about $120. I don't think it's available anymore. My wife's car has the same problem.

SOURCE: no chime with headlights on or key in ignition

you need to replace the chime control and you need to have the transmisson oil filter serviced and the oil replaced and add some lucas transmisson additive to get it to stop slipping, transmissons slip over time because of sticking valves and bands that are hardened.

SOURCE: chimes ring when you open drivers side door no keys in ignition

Sounds like the contact for the key chime in the steering column is shorted to ground. The only way to get the contact is to buy the clockspring. If you can live with it leave it alone. The clockspring is labor intense. You have to remove the airbag, steering wheel, and trim around column. If you ar mechanically inclined you could just disconnect it by cutting the wire going to the chime. It is under the key tumbler. I hope this helps.

SOURCE: The door chime is chiming even with the doors

Sounds like the chimer is bad. The relay is weak or broken. Mine would chime all the time especially after making a turn. Replaced it and now its not a problem.

2000 olds bravado shut off the chime

Shut off the chime ? You want to shut off the chimes or they don't work ??>?? Which chime ?
Audible Warnings Circuit Description
Safety Belt Warning Chime
Voltage is supplied to the body control module (BCM) through the following components when the ignition switch is in the START or RUN position:
• The GAUGES fuse 4
• CKT 39 (PNK)
When you first turn the ignition switch to the START or RUN position, a class 2 signal from the BCM is sent to the instrument cluster logic turning ON the fasten seat belt indicator. The indicator comes on steady for 20 seconds and then flashes for another 55 seconds if the drivers safety belt remains unbuckled, or goes out when the drivers safety is buckled. When the drivers safety belt is buckled, ground is no longer applied to the BCM through CKT 238 (BLK/WHT) from the seat belt switch causing the lamp and chime to go out. The chime will only sound for about the first 5 seconds of the ignition on cycle.
Key-In Warning Chime
Voltage is supplied at all times to the BCM through the following components:
• The Underhood Fuse Block TBC fuse
• CKT 1140 (ORN)
The chime sounds if all of the following conditions exist:
• The key is in the ignition switch.
• The ignition switch is in one of the following positions:
- ACC
- LOCK
- OFF
• The LH front door is open.
When the ignition key is in the ignition switch and the LH front door is open, the ignition key alarm switch closes. The LH door jamb switch also closes. When both of the switches close, the Body Control Module (BCM) senses ground through the following components:
• CKT 126 (TAN)
• The LH Door Jamb Switch
• CKT 1050 (BLK)
• SP203
• C203 cavity F12
• G203
The chime will sound for as long as the door is open and the key is in the ignition switch.
Lamps-On Warning Chime
Voltage is supplied through the ILLUM Fuse 12 to the BCM through CKT 1220 (GRY) when the following conditions exist:
• The headlamp switch is in the PARK or Head position
• The ignition switch is not in the RUN or START position
• The IP dimmer switch is not at the dimmest setting.
With the IP dimmer switch at the dimmest setting, the current to the BCM may be too weak to be sensed by the module. When the ignition switch is turned to the RUN or START position, voltage is supplied from the GAUGES Fuse 4 to the body control module through CKT 39 (PNK). When the ILLUM and GAUGES Fuse voltages are sensed at the same time, the alarm is not sounded. The GAUGES Fuse 4 loses voltage when the ignition switch is in one of the following positions:
• LOCK
• OFF
• ACC
I'am assuming the chime stays on all the time .

Why won't my My 98 or 99 (sic)Ford Escort chime to indicate I left my lights on?

The warning chime sounds if the parking lamps (13200) or the headlamps (13008) are left on after the key has been removed from the ignition switch lock cylinder and either front door (20124) is opened. There is a chime module that controls this .
The safety belt warning chime (10D840) (also called the central processing unit or CPU) is an audible warning system and timing circuit. The system components include:
  • Timing circuit safety belt switch.
  • Dome lamp switches.
  • Safety belt warning indicator switch which is an integral part of the front safety belt buckle end (61203).
  • Ignition switch (11572).
  • Headlamp switch.
The warning chime sounds and the safety belt warning indicator illuminates when the ignition switch is placed in the ON position and the LH front safety belt is not buckled.
Key In Ignition Warning
The warning sounds if the key is left in the ignition switch lock cylinder when either door is opened and the ignition switch is in the LOCK or OFF position.

How do I disconnect the warning chime?

Key in ignition chime ?
Saturn L-Series ?????? L what ? L100 ,L200 , L300
Audible Warnings
The body control module (BCM) will provide an audible warning for various events relating to the vehicle. The functions that provide an audible warning are the key in ignition, the lights on, the occupant restraint (seat belt) and the park brake.
Key in the Ignition Audible Chime
The BCM will provide an audible chime if the key is left in the ignition in either OFF or the accessory position with the driver's door open. The chime rate for this is 150 chimes per minute. The key in the ignition chime has a higher priority than the lights on chime.
Lights on Audible Chime
The BCM will provide an audible chime if the park lights are on and the driver's door is open. In addition, 1 or 2 other conditions exist. The key is out of the ignition, or the key is in the ignition in the OFF position, and has not been turned. The BCM will chime at a rate of 200 chimes per minute until the conditions are removed.
Occupant Restraint Audible Chime
The BCM will provide an audible chime based on the class II message received from the SDM if the driver's seat belt is not buckled when the ignition is turned to run or crank. The chime rate for this feature is 50 chimes per minute.
Park Brake Audible Chime
The BCM will provide an audible chime for park brake when the park brake is applied and the vehicle speed is higher that 3 mph. The chime rate for this feature is 200 chimes per minute.

You can't disconnect anything . The problem has to be fixed .

Telltale Chimes
The body control module (BCM) will provide 4 chimes for each telltale activation per ignition cycle, at a rate of 150 or 200 chimes per minute. The chimes are limited to 1 chime event per telltale for each ignition cycle. The power up telltale function will not activate the telltale chime function. If the telltale becomes active during a cycle then the chime will sound.
The following telltales will activate the chime function:
• Low Washer Fluid
• Change Oil Soon Indicator
• Brake Fluid Low
• Oil Pressure Low
• Coolant Temperature Hot
• Low Coolant Level
• Low Fuel Level
• Antilock Brake System
• Volts Light (Generator)
• Supplemental Inflatable Restraint System (Air Bag)
• Trunk or Hatch Ajar

Having the vehicle checked for DTC'S - diagnostic trouble code's in the BCM would be the first step in the diagnostic procedure .
DTC B2965
When the ignition key is seated in the ignition switch, the key-in-ignition switch contacts the close, grounding circuit 80. The body control module (BCM) monitors the state of the key-in-ignition switch, the state of the ignition switch (OFF, ACC, or RUN) and the driver's door to control the key-in-ignition chime.

I am in the Army and away from home attending a course and my wife calls me to inform me that a steady warning chime is going off inside the truck. When I asked to hear the chime it sounds to me like it...

The headlight switch turns on the courtesy light when twisted. Tell her to make sure that the headlight switch is twisted off the indent. If this isn't it, it may be the body control module.

I would like to disarm anti-theft system

On my 1998 Exlorer Sport there is a set of 5 wires in a yellow sheath running from the ignition module to a brown connection point/harness in a very uncomfortable position directly under the steering column above the pedals.

I unplugged the connection at this point. This stopped the key-in-ignition chiming (part of the anti-theft feature) but I still get the chime alerts for headlights left on, initial chime when the key is turned. The pinging, or ringing chime comes from the multifunction computer located under the dash behind the radio.

Hope this help.
