SOURCE: how to replace an evaporate canister vent solenoid

replacing the the F75Z-9F945-CA solenoid is not that difficult, granted the space is tight. First, disconnect the electrical connection. Second, remove the solenoid from the canister by pulling the solenoid toward the driver's side of the vehicle ( the solenoid is attached to the canister with an O ring connection). Once the solenoid is disconnected from the canister you should be able to pull it down from the crossmember to gain access to the vacuum line on the solenoid. Once the vacuum line has been disconnected, the solenoid should be free. Reverse the steps to install the new solenoid. I did this today and the procedure took about 20 minutes from start to finish.

I have 1998 ford windstar. code came up p1451 evaporative emission system vent control circuit. how would you fix it. or is it a major problem

Easy fix
Most likely the Solenoid Operated
Vent Valve on the EVAP Canister

You could do yourself,I don't know if
the canister is in the engine compartment
or under the back near the fuel tank

Your best to go to a local repair shop
so they can use a scan tool, smoke
machine etc

Ford 1998 windstar 3.0l, when open gas tank cap, air pressure release sound occurred immediately.Although replaced a new cap, the situation is still exist.

HAVE EVAP SYSTEM CHECKED. YOUR FUEL PRESSURE SENSOR NOT WORKING.CHECK THE CANISTER FUEL VAPOR HOSE AND INLET PORT FOR BLOCKAGE OR COLLAPSED HOSES.CHECK CANISTER PURGE VALVE HOSES FOR KINKS.HAVE CHARCOAL CANISTER CHECKED MAKE SURE ITS NOT GAS SOAKED AND PLUGGED. THE DEALERSHIP HAS TO RUN A DIAGNOSTIC TEST TO CHECK OUT WHOLE EVAPORATIVE EMISSION CONTROL SYSTEM.
