2002 buick abs, trac off lights come on

After hearing a vibrating sound from the front brakes, the abs light and trac off lights come on. Sometimes the service engine soon light comes on as well. I know the front brakes were done seven months ago.

there is documentation that the 2002-2003 abs wire was routed over the weel controle arm and tends to short out the wire. has been fixed since. replace bearing 600.00$, tape or solder wire priceless

Thats really good. I took my 1998 Buick Century in for the ANTI LOCK light being on and occasionally the lowtrack. They put it on the tester thing doodle (hell I don't know what they call it), oh, code reader. Anyhow a code came up that my wheel bearing assembly needed replaced. I hope it fixes the anti-lock. He said it might be a bad wire (I hope not) as well.

Oh, also I hear something like a clicking sound up front. I hope the new wheel bearing assembly fixes that as well.

Why is my trac off light on

It is the anti lock brake system. First, look at the ABS. It will come on for a bad wheel sensor or broken wire. This will also throw the trac light on. ABS is on because the computer senses the one tire is trying to stop or lock up. this releases the brake pressure. On the traction light(which should also throw the ABS light), one tire is spinning faster that another. This can happen on gravel, sand or snow/ice. When you turn the key on, do you have an ABS light on, then goes off? Same with a trac light. If you do, then you have a bad wheel sensor. Scan it and replace it.

Most likely that one of the ABS Wheel Sensors is disconnected or got damaged during repairs that you made. Check connectors for ABS wheel sensors at front brakes. If look ok, you need to check computer codes to know which sensor is damaged and replace sensor.

I am having a horrible grinding sound and vibration in my brake pedal and i can sometimes feel it in my steering wheel while turning. My ABS and Trac Off lights keep coming on as well. I got the left...

Grinding sound ? May be worn brake pads, down to the metal against the rotors. Vibration, could be a warped rotor, wheels not balanced, worn outter tie rods. The ABS light will come on if the tooth ring is broken, giving you a pulsing pedal. That is what the ABS does.

Oil, trac off, service vehicle soon, and abs lights are on. I had the oil changed and the brakes done. why are these lights still on?

This looks like a failed or faulty connection to the speedometer/ cluster. Try removing the cluster and reinstalling. Sometimes the connections become loose for vibration and simply need reseated.

At low speeds, there is a loud vibration when I press on the brake at random times or right afterwards. Sometimes the ABS light and Trac light come on. Then there is no vibration.

Sound's like the abs is trying to engage usually a wheel speed sensor or wiring to sensor cuases that.Have your repair shop check for abs codes and go from there.

Brake pedal vibrates while braking and doesent stop right away

There's speed sensors at each wheel. You may have got some contamination in front of one of them... sounds like the abs is trying to compensate for un equal speed at each wheel... and something may be blocking a proper read at one of the wheels...

Abs and trac light on, abs vibrates car when braking

These two circuits are linked together and you probally need a ABS MODULE and possibly a rotor and they are pretty cheap on e-bay

2002 Buick Century anti-lock brake problems

i recently had this problem too, except i had all the lights on (ABS, service vehicle, trac-off, AND service engine) they are all easy to fix without spending more than 20-30$ for labour (depending how much your mechanic charges you) mine did it for free and he found out why the engine light is on afterwards too. so to fix all these lights (abs, trac-off, and service vehicle you MUST get another ABS cable (i went to a garage, they were towing a GM vehicle to the junk yard so i grabbed some scissors and cut BOTH abs cables on each side (good thing i did because one was bad) and braught them to my mechanic. the reason the lights come on is probably a defect or in my case my mechanic said it was salt buildup in the wires (on the drivers side) so he cut the wire off and rewired the new one and BOOM all the lights came off (service vehicle, abs, and trac-off) now for my service engine it says catalytic converter but im trying to put some fuel system cleaner to help it out i read somewhere that this is a defect of the car, so if you dont have that light yet, SELL your car ASAP for as much as you can get for it (after fixing the lights of course) and always google (car name+recalls) in the search bar to see what youre getting into, take care
